Regarding where I'd like to travel, I mean, ANYWHERE, amiright?!  As for a potential upcoming trip, it's a bit of a story... I have a friend who has been invited to a wedding in London but doesn't want to go alone, so I said I would go if he can get me a plus one to the wedding.  However, he thinks it's a social faux pas to ask for a plus one and would rather not go to the wedding at all if he doesn't get the plus one.  Now he faces two problems: 1) how to ask for a plus one without directly asking for a plus one; and 2) if he doesn't get a plus one, what excuse can he make to get out of the wedding?  Would love to hear your suggestion in the comments!!!

I used to love to travel pre-pandemic (and also pre kids) and would aim to take at least one big trip a year.  The next trip that was on my list that was unfortunately cancelled was a trip to Columbia.  It looks like a fascinating country to me with the history, arts, beaches, hiking, outdoors, markets, etc.  Seems like you can experience a lot from a single country.  I would also love to go back to the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador as last time I was there was almost 20 years ago.  It was an amazing trip and I would like to see more but it would also be interesting to see how it has changed over the years.

I look forward to working with all of you this term.

With so much of our life online right now, I’ve definitely been feeling the Zoom fatigue. However, the pandemic has also forced many of us to get creative and to explore online tools which is why I registered for this course.  

To answer the icebreaker question: I would love to travel to Rome, Italy which is my favourite city – I love the art, architecture, food, history and the slower pace of life.

I am an English teacher (ESL) at the University of Victoria. I got the opportunity to develop a couple of English online courses from scratch for the University of Victoria when Covid struck and we were forced to pivot online.  It turns out that that was the most exciting part of my 24 year career - creating and developing online courses.  It stretched my mind and renewed my love for creating materials and teaching.  Shortly after that, we were all put on part-time Workshare for 2 years which ironically was a huge blessing in disguise because I had some free time to continue playing with this new found excitement, so I created a YouTube English language learning channel and a learning blog/website.  

In a nutshell, I want to learn more and more about designing online e-learning courses in both my professional life and as a personal hobby. (I know!  I sound like a geek, but I'm not, lol. You'll see.)

To answer the fun question of where I would travel if I could go anywhere, it would be to Italy, too.  My husband is Italian and I am learning Italian with my mother-in-law. It would be so great to be in a place where I could see the language in play all day long. 

I look forward to meeting everyone and working on the course together.

My name is Smita. I am located in Coquitlam, BC. I am a K-12 teacher and transitioning towards adult education. Recently I started as ESL teacher cum curriculum developer with Ingress Education. It’s a start up institution and I am in process to develop online course for ESL students. I am excited about this project and feel that this course is going to help me get things done better way. I take time to be friendly with technology so little more scary than excited. Hope to get a lot from this course.


Regarding the question where I would like to travel... well I love journey better than destination. So it could be anywhere. We have traveled by road much in Canada starting from Toronto to Quebec to Calgary and finally to BC covering Rockies. Awesome road trips with my family! Recently had ferry ride and visited Victoria as well (by chance on weekend so missed visiting UVIC). I would love to Visit Dubai as I have heard much about the country from friends!

My name is Tereasa (she/her) and I am returning to the CACE program after a long break. Sooooooo.....the technology, well what can I say.

I identify as a non-status person of European and Indigenous descent, my father being a member of the Colville Federation in Washington. As a leadership development coach, trainer and facilitator I have had the privilege of working with numerous First Nations communities; individuals, groups and organizations. 

I am currently working with a colleague developing an online coaching and training program for a target audience and hoping that this course will help with choosing the course format & e-learning platforms best suited to make an engaging experience. 

As far as travel...I have done a great deal in the past. And it has been far too long since I have been on a journey...and I honestly can't imagine where I would go given all the complications of travelling our world right now. But, if the question were; if you could wave a magic wand and be somewhere else in the world, where would you be?? Ahhhhh.....so many places spring to mind! South of France, the Cinque Terre, Barcelona, Bhutan, Chacalla, oh, my goodness, I'm afraid I'll have to get back to you.

I definitely agree with Winnie on travel – I would be happy to go anywhere! I saw something the other day that said “The trick to getting through life is to always have a vacation planned to look forward to”. I agree! Portugal, Croatia and an African Safari are high on my wish list for places I hope to get to sometime soon!?

My sister and her partner live there with their 8 month old and I miss them so much! I've been lucky to have traveled a lot so far- I'm originally from Ireland, and have loved living in Canada so far! Re: travel, I'd love to return to Italy, Croatia and Thailand. I was in a Zoom meeting last week and one of the committee members joined us from Zanzibar, Tanzania. That was never a place on my travel wish list, but it is now! I'd also like to visit the islands of the Caribbean, besides Jamaica, which is where I'm from and my primary travel destination.

The pic I've posted is of me in the backyard of my home in Falmouth, JA. I'm holding a breadfruit - delicious when roasted! I'd like to turn the yard into an oasis of flowers, fruit trees and a sanctuary for birds and other little creatures. Flexibility and the ability to work remotely are two of the main reasons I'm interested in E-learning.

Hi everyone!!

I am a bit late on the assignment but as Winnie and Ciaran from this class, I also work for Refinery as a Program Manager. As many companies, we had to adapt to a virtual learning environment and we have successfully done so but we  are always looking for ways to improve, hence the reason why we enrolled in this course :)

For the travel destination, I would say Bali. I have several countries on my Wishlist but I have a feeling Bali will be fun and a bit of sun and amazing beaches are not bad at all.
