How I got into OPM

I got into original pinoy music (OPM) during my junior highschool years after being introduced to IV of Spades. Their funky style of music is what enticed me and many others into their discography. Similar talents I enjoyed were Ben&Ben, Lola Amour, Unique Salonga, Juan Karlos, etc.

While my taste in music fluctuates, Bini caught my attention after Kpop idol Solar sang her rendition of Pantropiko during her solo concert in the Philippines. Their pop music ans y2k sense of fashion is definitely trendy during this generation. So far they're the only idol group I enjoy.

Of course we can't forget songs of past. I grew up with my parents listening to Apo Hiking society.

Music for me is how I tune out the outside world amidst the stress and how I appreciate Filipino identity. In doing so satisfies my need to connect with my culture. Additionally, I am able to identify the genre of music these talents are inspired by and tells me of what inspires them.
