Research poets' and writers' definitions of poetry (not just the dictionary one). Find a quote you like that defines poetry. Explain what you think the quote means and why you like it as per my example.
Don't repeat someone else's but you can add your ideas to someone else's! Add your initials at the top!

"Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotions know what it means to want to escape from these things." - T.S Eliot

To me, this quote represents the poets mind. How it feels to want to escape into another place from a negative emotion or to escape yourself, to be someone else. That many people choose rather to block them out, to stifle their creative outlet either out of fear or ignorance. It takes being human, being vulnerable, to be able to finally escape what dreads you in life.

'I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew. Writing a poem is discovering.' -- Robert Frost

I think this quote relates to how when you watch a movie -- you don't know what the ending is. So, Frost is saying that writing poetry is like an adventure. He doesn't know the ending when he begins writing it...but by the end, he realises what is going on and where he will end up with it. It's a journey.
