The things I learned about that most interested me referred to the development theories I heard about and researched. Particularly about post-development, which I found to be the most successful theory that was least harmful to a country's culture and unique economic and political sphere.

I also found the dependency theory intriguing and chose to do some following research to learn more about it. I found it really interesting that researchers have put this theory into a classification system for development rather than an introspective reflection of 'why things are the way they are' and what perpetuates the economic and social issues that struggling countries are dealing with. I wholeheartedly agree with the core arguments of this theory and do believe that developed and wealthy countries owe their continued prosperity and successes to the disadvantaged countries that they exploit.

Today's tutorial activities were useful for my learning and I enjoyed learning about the various theories that those in development research use to categorise stages and reasons of progress and regressions. I do wish that I had the opportunity to do some class activity-related research about other development theories rather than just one, though. I understand that we don't actually have much time in our tutorials to do so but I thought some other group theories were so interesting that I wished I was involved in their research as well as my group's.

Nothing particular comes to mind regarding what remains unclear after today's session.

I had the chance to learn more about the various sources of inequality in Bolivia and the progress that marginalised groups have made in attempts to counter these factors of inequality. The ways in which government bodies attempt to work towards this progress were also insightful and further delved into how complicated and multi-faceted the process of development and anti-violence/discrimination/inequality campaigns truly are.

I found today's activities engaging and enjoyable; the discussions we had about race/ethnicity and religion/spirituality were also very interesting and I found that these discussions broadened my interest and engagement with the learning activities this week.

I still find the process of development to be complicated and requiring the consideration of countless factors that implementing this outside of theoretical discourse seems very challenging

What I learnt most about was how interconnected the environmental issues are between so many developing countries, specifically considering their different landscapes and geographical locations, it seems as though countries in poverty/ lacking development don't have the viable response mechanisms to respond to environmental factors and in turn those environmental factors perpetuate that lack of development and the social and economic difficulties that a country faces.

I also found an interesting case study while researching my country's SDG progress during our activities, and learned about a short-term program the UN implemented to increase occupational opportunities for marginalised women in Bolivia which was absolutely fascinating as the results were so positive. It was not a large-scale project, but nonetheless was very introspective to read about as I learned more about first-hand projects that actually work to improve the situation in Bolivia and are somewhat successful.

I found today's activities enjoyable, I wish I contributed a bit more to the class discussion as I wanted to put forth some possibly interesting ideas, but regardless the overall tutorial was good.

I'm not sure if this is considerable as 'unclear' but I wonder about possible accountability mechanisms that keep countries and parties in power 'in check' and motivated to strive towards their SDGs.

Regarding course content that was entirely new, the difference between global and international development was fairly interesting to learn about. I now recognise global development as more of an inclusive term that prioritises different stages of development and more sustainable development practices rather than prioritising globalisation among countries. The similarities by which various developing countries are negatively and positively impacted by foreign aid was additionally insightful.

I believe the learning activities for this tutorial were fairly useful in grasping the key concepts and learning objectives regarding foreign aid. I think looking at different facets of foreign aid in more depth would have also been interesting to explore.

As of now, I don't believe there is anything of note that remains unclear to me. However, I am curious about the relationship between NGO foreign aid and government aid, including how they intersect.

A few things we covered in the tutorial (and lecture) this week were already familiar for me as I had taken a course in high school that covered a lot about globalisation, its indicia and the relevant systems it refers to. I did learn more about the specified globalisation issues in the developing countries our class is studying, which gave me a deeper understanding of the differences and similarities that many of these countries have. Further, the class discussions broadened my knowledge about this as I began to grasp the various 'common denominators' for the globalisation-related development issues in many developing countries, many of which refer to the exploitation of natural resources, unequal distribution of resources and poor infrastructure, and unstable political bodies which sustain these globalisation issues. Further, I found our discussion regarding whether globalisation could be considered a positive or negative process additionally enlightening; afterwards I concluded that it is an overall positive process with indefinite benefits for humanity's development but has the capacity to severely negatively affect developing countries if unmediated.

I found today's activities overall useful, I enjoyed our discussions and felt that researching the impacts of globalisation for our respective countries was crucial to our understanding of their conditions.

I found this week's content very interesting and enjoyed learning about the levels and aspects of governance and state-controlled authority that influence development and the conditions in a country. The 'fragile'/'failed' state system was interesting to learn about, though I do feel that, as much as it may be useful in categorising the conditions in a state, it may also be limiting in how it expresses the status of a country in a one-dimensional aspect. My key takeaways from this week mostly refer to how I've learned that 'good governance' is absolutely crucial in the success of a nation, and a country's relations both interdependently and independently require a solid authority that positively influences its associations. The interrelation between government and the private sector was also interesting to learn about, specifically for Bolivia (my group's country), where the private sector contributes strongly to economic development and growth throughout the country.

I enjoyed the leading questions of the activities this week, they helped me grasp some key concepts and advanced my learning. I do wish that we were able to have a class discussion about this rather than doing the questions offline and independently, as I think this would have enriched the content comprehension this week.

Nothing noteworthy that I had trouble understanding thus far.

My key learning involved research into the various security issues that plague developing countries (and specifically Bolivia) which was fairly interesting to delve into. It was also interesting to differentiate between security issues in various other countries comparably, with many of Bolivia's major security issues relating to political unrest and violence, meanwhile other countries that our class focused on also deal with issues of human trafficking among other things, which was extremely eye-opening.

I believe that I was not present in this Zoom tutorial due to personal circumstances (I mixed up my participation in this session v week 6), so communicated with my group members and did independent catch-up to progress with my learning regardless.

I believe the leading questions and tutorial activities were useful for my learning; as for the discussion, I only participated in small discourse with my group members rather than the class, though the topic was engaging.

I believe this content was fairly clear for me to understand, but I do wonder about what the international community is doing in attempting to counteract threats to public security in such disadvantaged countries, and whether 'developed'/'advanced' countries are upholding their duty in utilising their privilege and resources to uphold general security elsewhere in the world outside of their respective countries.
