Self-sufficiency

" Lori had been writing to us regularly from New York. She loved it there. She was living in a hotel for women in Greenwich Village, working as a waitress in a German restaurant, and taking art classes and even fencing lessons." The picture Illustrates a person taking his suitcase and leaving everything but himself and prepared for what's ahead. This illustration can reflect Lori when she wants to leave and go to New York but Rex destroys Oz the Piggy bank and leaves with a little bit of money and living where she was babysitting a families child. Later she writes that she has her own apartment, food to eat, has a job, and taking classes. This is an example for self-sufficiency because when Lori moves to New York, she left with a cardboard box that had her clothes, books, and art supplies, so she wasn't caring almost no money. But instead becoming homeless in New York she got a job and had her own responsibilities to take care of.

Fantasy .vs. Reality

" What I was thinking was you don't have to go right away, You can stay and graduate from Welch high and go to Blue field state and work in The Welch Daily News. he'd help me with the articles like with Chuck Yeager and I'll build the Glass Castle. We'll all live in it together. It'll be a hell of a lot better than any apartment you'll ever find in New York City. Dad Jeannette said as soon as I finish my classes I am taking the first bus to New York, you can build the glass castle but don't do it for me." The Image Ilustrates to perspectives one is fantasy where your mind is up in the clouds and the other side is your mind still in your head. This image reflects the quote because Rex is the Fantasy where he thinks that he can build the glass castle and every will be fine but everything isn't fine. That's will Jeannette would be the reality side where even if she thinks her father can still build she still wants to go to New York so that she can become somebody in the real world, rather than living in Rex's Delusion state of mind.

" They asked what I was doing at the age of three. It was easy I said. You just put the hot dog in the water... Mom says I'm mature enough to cook for myself" quote when Jeannette was young.
" When Eric heard I needed a place to stay her suggested to move in with him..... I couldn't stop thinking about mom and dad, When they moved into there squat, it seemed as if the finally found the place where they belonged, and wondering if I done the same." The picture Illustrates a child growing up and viewing every stage of life. This image fits the quotes because Jeannette always had a side of maturity but when she becomes a young adult she scan't make the decision yet of living with someone and being set for life.

Unconditional Love

" I hate Erma" Jeanette said, than mom quotes " You have to show compassion for her, everyone has something good about them and you have to find the redeeming quality and love the person for that". Another quote for unconditional love is when Jeannette quoted " Dad come we need you, your the head of the family, your the dad". Image shows a dog having unconditional love to his owner. For example this image illustrates the love Jeannette has for her father. There's been many times when Rex has done wrong for his children and Jeannette still forgave him for everything. At one point Jeannette was the only one that was on Rex's side when it came to him not having a job or trying to be sober. Another example is when Maureen stabbed Rose marry. She forgave Maureen and acted like nothing had happened during the trial

" Now no snot-slinging or boohooing about 'poor ol' Rex. But you always loved your old man, didn't you?". Rex tells Jeannette says if he still loves and she says "I did dad, and you love me". Rex responds by saying " Now, that's the God's honest truth". They end it it with Rex quoting "have i ever let you down?''. The Picture of a father and his daughter staring at the view represents Rex and Jeannette. Jeannette still loves her father even after all the things he did. For example taking money from her to buy liquor than later pimping her out. But at the end she still listened to him like when Rex told her to pass by a liquor store before she visits him. She still has this genuine love for him and cares about him still.

Acceptance

" We should drink a toast to Rex", " I've got it. Life with your father was never boring. We waved our glasses our glasses and it was almost has I could hear dad chuckling from mom's comment. We started talking about dad's great escapes from the FBI, letting us pet the cheetah and going demon hunting in the middle of the night." The image shows two people shaking hands and this represents acceptance because after Rex passed away the family didn't have any grudges against him instead they saw the qualities he had. For example Rose Walls admits that it was an adventure being with Rex. The Walls family start seeing the things he did for them. At the end of the novel they accepted Rex Walls for all the things he did.
