When you read the poem with and without punctuation, how does your appreciation and understanding of the poem change?

I believe that when you read a poem with and without appropriate punctuation, the tone and and the understanding would change. When you read with punctuation, you have more opportunities to pause and to slow your reading. When you read without punctuation, your words would be a lot more spread out and more conjoined/connected. I wouldn´t necessarily say that your understanding would change, but sometimes it can change the way that you interpret.

Edit a stanza from the poem and add the appropriate punctuation!

There used to be someone to whom I could say do you love me, and be sure that the answer would always be yes. There used to be someone to whom I could telephone and be sure when the operator said do you accept the charges, the answer would always be yes. But now there is no one to ask, no one to telephone from the strangeness of cities. Now there is no-one, always now no-one, no someone no never at all.

Adding the apporopriate punctuation to the stanza above, didn't change the poem very much but it definetley changed the pace of what we read at. It also made us look at it a bit different because it separated the sentences a bit more. I think that depending on the topic and the poem sometimes it can be better without punctuation in the places you would normally put it.

Interview two pet owners. Talk about their relationships with their pets and how it affects their lives. Pros and cons of owning a pet?

I interviewed Makhai, he talked about his dog named Baxter. I asked him many questions about his relationship with his dog and how it affects his life. He explained that the relationship he has with his dog is very strong and he is very thankful. Baxter has a very happy-go-lucky personality, he is super sweet and loves just about everyone. He also talked to me about how great his dog makes him feel. When he wakes up in the morning and his dog is sitting there waiting for him to get up, it makes Makhai happier in the mornings. Makhai explained that if his dog were to pass in the next couple months or years, he would be very traumatized. He would probably be sad for a short while after. Makhai is greatful for his dog, and says he is like another family memeber, or a bestfriend to him.

Discuss the following statement and talk about your opinion and thoughts about the statement.
" People devote too much attention and money to pets when there are more important things in the world to focus on."

In my opinion this statement in a way is true, but in a way it's also not. If you have a pet, or you are thinking about getting a pet, then you need to realize the responsibilities that come with it. Just about every indoor pet you can have requires a lot of attention and can potentially be expensive. I wouldn't necessarily say that people pay 'too much' attention to their pets, but sometimes people can be obsessed with their animals. I believe that when you are taking care of an animal you need to spend some time walking or playing with your animal. you also need to make sure its fed and has a place to sleep. I would say those are the necessities for taking care of an animal. although it's nice to play with them a lot, you don't need to be with them 24/7.

Write a note to one of your close family members, talking about wether or not you wish to donate your organs after you pass away.

Dear Catharine Guzzo (mom),

I don’t really think that you will pass away before me but in the case that you do, I do in fact wish to donate all of the organs necessary. I believe that if you have already passed, there is no longer a use for the organs in your body. Keeping this in mind, I feel like the majority of people would allow their organs to be removed and used in another persons transplant surgery. I realize that some people pass away with no warning, and sometimes families don’t really know if they should allow their organs to be donated, but personally I think donation is the way to go.

If you have the opportunity to save someone else’s life, why would you not do it? You know what it's like to lose someone you love, why would you want someone else to go through that. Donating your organs could possibly save many young kids or teens, who haven’t been able to live their life to the extent that they should be.
I think that every person has the right to live, and if you could be the reason for saving someone's life, even if you aren't alive anymore, take it. Be the reason that another person and their family is happy.

I can only imagine how extremely tough it would be making the decision of wether or not they should donate their organs. For the sake of making the time a bit easier for you and the rest of the family, please say yes to every donation they talk about.

In the voice of Mrs. Hadley, write a letter to Bill thanking him for meeting with you and explain the importance of the meeting.

Dear Bill (William Robinson),

I am writing this letter for the sole purpose of thanking you, and to let you know just how much this meeting meant to me.
The night I lost my son was extremely tough and painful for me, but knowing that his organs would be removed and repurposed by someone who could benefit from them, changed my mood just a bit. Although I will never fully be able to get over the passing of my son, being able to meet you today, helped give me closure. I am so beyond thankful for you and for the doctors who placed my son’s heart in your body. It makes me happy to know that his heart is in good hands and is with someone who will actually take care of it. It is a great feeling knowing that you understand the meaning of an organ donor and that you are actually willing to take care and cherish the heart that you have been given.
I would like to personally thank you for agreeing to meet with me on such a jam packed evening. It may have seemed odd to meet up with a complete stranger, but this night meant everything to me. I just needed to know that my son’s heart has been placed in good hands and is being taken care of to a great standard. Tonight's meeting was a bit awkward and had me very nervous but I believe it went very well and I think that we could possibly link up another time, in the near future.

You are sweet, kind and caring young man and I feel that god placed his heart with the right person. I know that I have said it a million times but once again, thank you for meeting me. I am glad to have had this oppurtunity, and to have been able to meet such a kind hearted soul, like you

Sincerely,
Mrs. Hadley
