I learned to be receptive to student needs within strategy groups. During conferencing its ok to touch upon something the student needed (accuracy or fluency) even if it is not related to the strategy lesson you taught.

I think it's important to pull back to Goals 3 and 4 for the ESL students. We have many children who are not ready to think about plot, character, theme etc. in English. They need to work on accuracy and fluency first. Without that, there isn't any comprehension to lead to doing the higher skills.

I like utilizing strategy instruction but would appreciate common planning time w/my classroom teachers to best utilize the pre-assessment data they collect when I am not there.

I am getting more confortable with each lesson that I teach. Roadblock - finding mentor text to fit each strategy when the novel does not lend itself to the work.

When he brought up about the teachers talking too much. Definitely see that.

Honestly I’m curious to how this would work if it was done with a leveled book (leveled groups).

When do you truly know if a student is ready to move forward? How do you go about in a group after noticing that a child has probably been placed incorrectly?

Focusing on Accuracy and Fluency is what most of our ESL students need. I would have loved to see assessment on that.

I think it would be a nice idea if we could come up with a shared read aloud "box" that we could all use? So that way we have read alouds we could all share.
