Brainstorming is a creative process that can create many solutions to a problem. </strong></p><p><strong>Schools can contribute to their students problem solving skills by including problem solving in trainings to provide teachers with the ability to teach students problem solving skills. </strong></p><p><strong>Families/Caregivers can support the students problem solving by encouraging students to use problem solving skills at home during day-to-day issues. </strong></p><p><strong>Community members can contribute to students problem solving skills by including these skills in curriculum for the district(region), ensuring students will be taught problem solving skills.<br></strong></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Teachers can contribute to developing students social skills by including group activities during lessons, and include group work routinely; this way students have ample opportunity to develop their social skills.</p><p>Schools can help develop students social skills by encouraging students to join an afterschool program in order to participate in social gatherings. </p><p>Families and caregivers can contribute to developing social skills by taking their children to places where they can socialize, like parks and family gatherings. </p><p>Community members can contribute to students developing social skills by ensuring schools have afterschool programs/groups so that our students may have the opportunity to socialize and develop socializing skills. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>T<strong>eachers can help develop students critical thinking skills by activating student curiosity, by using an inquiry based learning model. </strong></p><p><strong>Schools can contribute to developing students critical thinking skills by implementing collaborative group work in their curriculum, peer interaction (group projects/debates) will help students the ability to think critically. </strong></p><p><strong>Families can contribute the students critical thinking skills by encouraging them to question everything. Allowing the students to explore their curiosity and ask a lot of questions will give them opportunity to critically think about the answers. </strong></p><p><strong>Community members can contribute to students critical thinking skills by offering diverse perspectives.          <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Teachers can contribute to their students literacy skills by constantly reading aloud. Listening to a text may help some students improve their listening skills. </strong></p><p><strong>Schools can contribute to their students literacy skills by offering reading rewards. Encouraging students to read by offering rewards can highly benefit their literacy skills. </strong></p><p><strong>Families can contribute to the students literacy skills by encouraging students to choose their own books. When reading at home, it is important for students to enjoy what they are reading. Enjoying what they are reading will encourage students to continue reading, thus improving their literacy skills. </strong></p><p><strong>Community members can contribute to students literacy skills by hosting  a book recommendation event. Coordinating an event where both students and staff can share their favorite books and discuss them as a group, will encourage students to read outside of a school environment, leading to better literacy skills. </strong></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I<strong>n order to introduce my students I will have my students do a gallery walk. I in advance will prepare all of the  six competencies on a poster, where I will include a picture for each competency and a brief one sentence explanation. My students will walk around the room where all six posters are visible. Once my students are finished my students will in groups of 3 draw one competency each, once they are done each group will present their competency.  </strong></p>]]></description>

Each week I base my lessons on a theme, and within that theme whenever possible I will refer to competencies. For example; when my students go to the library work station(center), I will review the literacy skills competency. </strong></p>]]></description>

In groups, just like in the gallery walk my students will be paired in groups and will draw each competency and present with their groups. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I am able to apply this to my current classroom. In my district we have a set of competencies already. I plan to have my students introduced to the competencies with a gallery walk, and check for understanding by having my students draw a picture representing the competency they chose, and write a one sentence summary. I will repeat this process as much as needed to make sure my students understand what the competencies stand for and how they can help them. </p>]]></description>
