         <description><![CDATA[<div>Different Types of Tourism<br>&nbsp;<br>Domestic Tourism<br>&nbsp;– Taking Holidays and Trips in your own country. An example of domestic tourism for UK residents would be, a family from Birmingham in the Midlands taking a short break to the seaside resort of Blackpool. <br><br>In <strong>2019</strong>, British residents took 99.1 million overnight trips in <strong>England</strong>, totalling 290 million nights away from home and expenditure of £19.4 billion,with an average trip length of 3 nights. The number of <strong>domestic</strong> trips to <strong>England</strong> was +2% higher than in 2018. 46.4 million holiday trips were taken in <strong>England</strong> in <strong>2019</strong>.<br><br><br>Inbound Tourism – Visitors from overseas coming into the country. Generally, when we use the term inbound tourism in the UK we are referring to the people from different countries travelling to UK. E.g. a tourist coming from the USA to the UK. <br><br>There were 40.9 million visits to the <strong>UK</strong> in <strong>2019</strong>, 1% up on visits in 2018, but 1% fewer than in the record-holder 2017. Those <strong>inbound</strong> visitors spent £28.4 billion in <strong>2019</strong>, up 7% on <strong>inbound</strong> spending in 2018, setting a new record for <strong>inbound</strong> spending.<br><br><br>Outbound Tourism –Travelling to a different country for a visit or a holiday. Generally, when we use the term outbound tourism in the UK we are referring to the UK residents travelling out of the UK. For example, you are an outbound tourist from the UK if you go to Spain on holiday.<br><br><strong>Outbound tourism</strong> visits from the <strong>United Kingdom</strong> (<strong>UK</strong>) <strong>2019</strong>, by purpose of trip. Holiday or vacation <strong>travel</strong> was the most common reason for residents of the <strong>United Kingdom</strong> (<strong>UK</strong>) to go abroad in <strong>2019</strong>, with nearly 58.7 million visits taking place that year. ...
