Prezi is an online presentation tool that offers a dynamic, fluid style compared to traditional slide-based presentations like PowerPoint. It is suitable for teachers working with students of all grade levels, from kindergarten to higher education, and can be used in music classes to teach concepts, demonstrate connections between music and other arts, and create presentations. Prezi's user-friendly interface, customizable templates, dynamic visuals, non-linear navigation, and rich visuals enhance the learning experience. However, it can be confusing, limited in data visualization, and may cause motion sickness. Prezi requires a software license for each installed computer. Teachers can use Prezi to teach responsible and ethical technology use, using it for visual storytelling, interactive elements, case studies, explicit instruction, student-created presentations, and class discussions. The zooming canvas can represent complex concepts like online privacy, copyright laws, and cyberbullying, while interactive elements like quizzes, polls, and embedded videos encourage critical thinking. Prezi can also serve as a starting point for open discussions about the ethical implications of technology use. Benefits include engaging visuals, flexibility, accessibility, age-appropriate content, open communication, and regular reinforcement.

Quizlet is an online platform that provides digital flashcards, study sets, and interactive games for students and teachers to practice and master concepts across various subjects. It caters to students of all ages and grade levels, offering flexibility and customization. Quizlet can be used to reinforce music skills and concepts by creating flashcards with key terms, definitions, symbols, composers, music theory concepts, and audio clips. These flashcards can be used in various learning modes like matching, writing, and listening exercises, enhancing students' understanding of musical vocabulary and notation. Quizlet also offers personalized learning, active learning, accessibility, and self-assessment.

Britannica is an English encyclopedia that provides a comprehensive resource for research and information retrieval. It offers expertly edited articles and an interactive atlas, allowing users to explore the world, select places, view high-resolution photography, and learn related facts. The platform caters to students in Pre-K through 12th grade, offering varying levels of complexity based on age and reading ability. Britannica is particularly useful for music classes, allowing students to explore the history, lives of composers, and characteristics of different musical styles. It also offers multiple reading levels, translation features in multiple languages, audio read-aloud options, and differentiated content, making it particularly useful for English Language Learners (ELLs) and students with diverse abilities. However, it may lead to information overload, a steeper learning curve for younger students, and potential budget concerns. Teachers can use Britannica to teach responsible technology use, ethical practices, and critical thinking skills, ensuring students' understanding of the digital landscape.

Khan Academy is an online platform providing free access to thousands of educational video lessons, practice exercises, and learning materials across various subjects, and can be used for all grade levels. Khan Academy is a music content platform that can be used in a music classroom to teach music basics, instrument lessons, and analysis of musical works. Teachers can assign lessons for students to work on during class or for homework. The content covers music basics, staff, notes, treble clef, ledger lines, bass clef, grand staff, and octave. Instrument lessons include piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon. The All-Star Orchestra analyzes classical orchestral music, exploring scores, sounds, and emotions. Strategies for using Khan Academy in the classroom include encouraging collaboration and providing support when needed. Khan Academy offers personalized learning paths, accessible features, multiple language translations, and differentiated instruction based on individual student needs, enabling individual progress and content suitability. Khan Academy is a free learning platform that offers self-paced, auto-adapting, real-time data, organized lessons, and official SAT practice. However, it may be fast-paced, text-only, lack collaboration, reduce creativity, not accredited, and may not align with a school's curriculum. Students may also experience reduced creativity and not be able to collaborate with others. Khan Academy's "Khanmigo" AI tool enables teachers to teach ethical use of technology, incorporating discussions on privacy, source evaluation, and limitations, while also incorporating digital literacy and internet safety lessons.

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, comprising museums, libraries, research centers, and the National Zoo, and can be used by all grade levels for education. The Smithsonian Institution provides various resources for teaching music in the classroom, including recordings, lesson plans, and programs. These resources can be used to explore cultural, historical, and social themes. The Smithsonian Folkways Recordings is a nonprofit record label that offers educational materials for teachers and students, while the Smithsonian Folkways Learning Pathways offers free, curated resources for K-12 teachers. The Smithsonian Institution offers diverse learning programs and resources, including Beyond the Bell, S4 program, and Environmental Justice Academy, to engage underserved communities. These programs provide accessible, relevant content, such as closed captioning, digital simulations, text-to-speech, and student-facing resources in English and Spanish. The Smithsonian Institution offers educational value through its diverse exhibits and resources, promoting cultural understanding. It offers free admission, but may have outdated content, bureaucracy, limited career growth, unhelpful employees, and crowded exhibits. The Smithsonian Learning Lab (SLL) offers teachers access to millions of digital resources, enabling them to teach students responsible and ethical technology usage.

The students will be getting into small groups of 4 to complete the research of one of the songs they will be performing for the concert. Depending on how large the choir class is, there should only be one group per song selection, however, larger classes may need repeats. The students are going to research the context of their piece using Britannica and Smithsonian Institution for a deeper understanding, then present their findings using Prezi. This activity will be accompanied by a check list for the information they need, which includes title, date of publication, composer, dates of composer, instrumentation, genre, key, tempo marking, stylistic markings, form, dynamic range, vocal range for each voice part, historical context, and sources. Everyone in the group must make a contribution to the historical context section. The students will also need to pick 3 elements of the song that are most interesting or perplexing, as well as what those elements are associated with. The students will present their Prezi to the class, which everyone will need to take notes on.

Prezi is a dynamic presentation format that enhances student learning by providing a visually appealing and interactive experience. Its non-linear design with zooming capabilities allows students to focus on key details while illustrating connections to the bigger picture. Prezi also encourages active engagement by allowing students to embed images, videos, and audio elements into their presentations. This is particularly important since they will need to include specific examples of their music selection. It also facilitates collaboration, promoting teamwork and sharing ideas. Prezi also fosters presentation skills development by focusing on visual storytelling, pacing, and effective delivery. It can be used for research presentations, concept mapping, storytelling, and project explanations. Overall, Prezi is a valuable tool for students to enhance their learning experience. The overall activity will help students connect with their performance music on a deeper level and with better understanding of the musical elements.
