Cheyenne Ray

One of my biggest goals as an educator is to ensure that my students have the tools that they need in and out of the classroom. Using technology is a great way to do that in today's world, with jobs requiring more technology than before and with people being more technologically advanced than they have been in the past. One way I plan to help close the Digital Design Divide is by teaching students how to use technology in different ways than they may initially think about. Things like using slides to make study guides, or using google docs to create a story that their friends can then read and edit. I also want to show them that just because a piece of tech is generally used for one thing, that doesn't mean that's the only function it can serve. Plenty of websites and apps can be used creatively if there's some work put into it (like Facebook or X for organizing events)

I will also participate in professional learning communities and tech workshops to stay current with emerging educational technologies. By modeling lifelong learning and digital citizenship, I will empower my students to confidently and responsibly use technology to express their ideas and solve problems.

My goal for when I start teaching is for all my students to have equal opportunities when it comes to my teaching and their education. I will do everything in my power to have an open mind and remind myself that students don't all complete things at the exact same time and they also don't all think the same. Because of this I will think outside of the box and have strategies to approach different situations. I also want to close the DD and by doing so I will make sure that I can connect with my students through using technology and making sure that they're all given equal opportunities to navigate technology within the classroom. I will make sure I know how to use technology to the best of my ability and because I have been a lot longer than my kids one day I can and will show them everything they need to know under school and appropriate circumstances.

I would like to close the digital design divide by making sure that the tech I use in my class is a good fit for all student's needs, and I will have a survey at the end of every week where students can share gripes, advice, and any of their thoughts on how I am giving them an education
