Denis and Francis had lots of trouble getting into Iran. Marco Polo did not have nearly as much trouble traveling in Iran in his days. One similarity of the travels was the houses/shelter. They almost looked like extra large tents. Marco Polo also stayed in these types of shelters while he was in Mongolia. One difference was that Marco Polo mostly wrote about the Mongol empire while in Mongolia. One similarity is that all of these travelers went this rout to get to China. They were mapped by horns set by past visitors so they could tell where they were going. One difference is that Denis and Francis had a lot more trouble getting into the Walkhan Corridor. They even had to forge a passport visa to give them more days.
