At IES Narcis Monturiol (Parla, Madrid, Spain) we've decided to do some research concerning a variety of topics. We will try to find the best possible web pages to practice our grammar, but we won't stop at that. Here's what we've got. So far!

I like this page because there are different levels of difficulty (Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced) so you can start doing the exercises in the level where you are more comfortable .Another thing that I like about this web is that you can ask for clues if you have difficulties with the exercises but this is also bad because it makes you not try so hard and ask always for them.

I don’t recommend this web: test-english.com/grammar-points/b2/gerunds-infinitives-complex-forms/ because it gives you several options to put in the exercise and that means that you don’t have to write the solutions, which I see very badly because this way you don’t make an effort to write it yourself.

I hope that this help you

Rebeca

This week, after having been practicing English with several Internet pages, I want to share which is the best gerund and infinitive page that I have seen and with which I have worked most comfortable. It's this: https://www.ego4u.com/en/cram-up/grammar/infinitive-gerund
The page has tables with examples, so that things are better understood and exercises in pdf come to put into practice. The lessons are divided into 4 levels: from easy to difficult. But the tables can be difficult to understand.
Also, I have seen bad pages that teach little such as this: https://www.perfect-english-grammar.com/gerunds-and-infinitives.html
It doesn't have many things like on the previous page, only exercises and some examples but not better that on the first page.

I hope you haven't problems with my recommendation.
Adrian

You also have schemes and summaries in case you don't understand it and you need to see some grammar. The only difficulty I´ve found is that it´s not very tidy, but anyway, you can find exercises very easy. I haven´t found a website as appealing as this. Hope you like it!

Hi everyone! Have you ever heard about penpals?
Penpals are people who, without knowing each other personally, write to each other regularly, especially by post, nowadays by e-mail. The main purposes of this correspondence may be the practice of a foreign. I think it`s a great idea to learn a language and it`s so practical if you want to socialize too.
On the upside, you can make a new friend who talks to about your culture, your common subjects… You can learn how things are going in his or her country. And even if both of you want to you can go to her or his country for vacations. Many love stories start like this on TV! Why couldn’t be this yours?
On the downside, if you only want to write someone to improve your language and that’s all… maybe the other person wants to know you better. Maybe the person who you write to is a completely idiot and he or she is so rude and unpleasant. Or maybe the person is a
swindler and he or she takes your personal data to make a fraud.
Anyway, who knows who is going to be your penpal. Personally, I recommend it. And if you don’t like it you just have to quite writing and the problem is over.

A pen pal? Why not? This could imply the knowledge of various cultures through letters, emails by both parties. The only downside I could see to this would be not seeing that person for some reason. We could highlight above all the development that we would have in the language (of both parties of course). Another disadvantage would be on the one hand, to be continuously writing to that person, and to be honest I would forget completely and not even know where to start each day. But we should be careful about the things that you are going to tell him/her!
As a purpose, I can say that I had a friend but in Spain itself and it didn't turn out very well, so I wouldn't want to imagine it being outside of Spain!
Patricia Arias Aguilar

I used to have a penpal when I was at school, at 2nd and 3rd grade. His name was Brandon and we both wrote letters to each other, he did it in Spanish and I did it in English. But we didn't write each other frequently, just 3 times a year because that depended of my English teacher at the moment. I think having a penpal has pros and cons. Some of the pros are, for example, knowing people from all over the world and how do they speak your first language. Most of the times you coincide with each other hobbies which is always great so you can know other person's opinion on something. It's a great way to connect with another people and make friends, I think it's a very good point. I really don't know some cons of having a penpal. Nowadays, with social media, it's possible to connect people through videocalls and chatting so don't seeing each other faces it's not a problem at all. But I think the main problem is the distance. If you get attached to someone who lives in another country. So the main con of having a penpal, it's the distance.

DAVID CRISTIANO

Hi class!

First of all I would like to give a brief explanation of what a pen-pal is. A pen-pal is a person you know or don't know (it doesn't matter), with whom you write to each other every day.

On the one hand, I like this idea of having a pen-pal because you can get to know people with similar tastes, personalities, that in your day-to-day life you might not have even imagined that you would have a relationship with that person.

On the other hand, it scares me a little bit, because talking to strangers has always told us that it's wrong, right? But who doesn't do it nowadays? Who hasn't talked to a stranger from time to time? I don't know, I didn't know about this until Eduardo, the English teacher, told us about it. I think it would be very good to have a pen-pal with whom to speak English in order to improve, but I also think it would be difficult to find a person with whom to do so, because not everyone is ready to exchange a few messages EVERY DAY, I think.

In conclusion, I think that the first person who thought about doing pen-pal had a great idea that many will have appreciated.

Jiménez Martínez, Noelia BH2A

Just to remember, these are the modals we all know: can, could, may, might, will, should, shall, must (and in their negative form, also).
One thing I find difficult about modals is the way they're used. It might be annoying sometimes the way they're used in sentences.
One thing I find interesting about modals, it's the variety. We have lots of different modals which can be used in concrete forms to express exactly what we're saying and the emphasis we're giving to.
Something I hate about modals is the amount of modals we have. You see, I recjon there's more modals than we need and that could annoy sometimes because of their similar meaning.
And the most difficult thing I find about modals, is the way they're used or where do they need to be used , because of their similar meaning (in some cases). But what I'm planning to do, just to improve my Englsih with modals is to study harder.

Hi guys!
Today we are going to talk about modals. Modals are basically verbs that you can’t conjugate or add –ing. They are auxiliaries that are combined with other verbs to express the "mood" of the verb. They show ability, necessity or possibility.
What I find interesting about those verbs is that you can use them in a lot of ways. For example, you can I can use this pencil or I can go tomorrow. Is the same verb but with different meanings.
What I don’t like is that in most of times you have to think what modal goes with the verb you are using. I found that a little difficult to use them but with practice and a bit of studying I think I can make it perfect.
