translation

TRANSLATION is the process of converting the meaning of a written message (text) from one language to another. Translators must strike a fine balance between staying true to the original meaning and making a text sound natural in the target language—to ensure that the final text communicates the same message, feeling, and tone as the original. Translation is an essential tool for businesses looking to globalize their products and services. It helps them break down language barriers and communicate with customers in their native language.

1. Language:

 - Language is a system of conventional spoken, manual (signed), or written symbols through which human beings express themselves.

 - It serves various functions, including communication, identity expression, play, imaginative expression, and emotional release¹.

 - Every typical person acquires the ability to use a set of symbols (sounds, gestures, or written characters) for communication. Spoken language involves noises produced by throat and mouth movements, while signed languages use hand/body movements or facial expressions.

 - Different systems of communication constitute different languages, with varying degrees of difference needed to establish a separate language.

2. Culture:

 - Culture encompasses shared beliefs, customs, practices, and values within a social group.

 - Language is culturally embedded—it both expresses and shapes cultural reality. Understanding language requires considering its cultural context².

3. Communication:

 - Communication involves transmitting information, expressing emotions, influencing others, and interacting with people who use similar symbols.

 - Language plays a crucial role in communication, allowing us to convey ideas, feelings, and intentions.

4. Translation:

 - Translation bridges language and culture because they are inseparable. Linguistic items (words or text segments) gain meaning within their cultural context.

 - Translators navigate both linguistic and cultural nuances to convey accurate messages across languages.
