Review: I chose this book because it was one of my favorite books my own teacher introduced to me when I was in Elementary School. It is a classic book that many teachers read to their students because it's about a misbehaving classroom that miss their nice teacher when a mean substitute teaches the class for a while. It entraps readers with the intriguing Miss Viola Swamp and the surprise ending  Even though this book was published in 1977, it remains timeless in both children's and adult's hearts.
Age/Audience: This book is appropriate to read to Kindergartners for a fun read, but because of some of the larger words that students will most likely have to use context clues for, I believe that 2nd or 3rd graders will be able to read this on their own. Review: Molly Lou Melon is a very good book to use in your classroom at the beginning of the year or if you are aware of a teasing situation between students because a student is different. The first time i heard this, I was interning in a 4th grade classroom and this was a book that was read to the students on the first day of school. It really seemed to stick with the students.  This book helps students understand that everyone is different, and we should be proud of our differences instead of ashamed, even when dealing with bullies.
Age/Audience: This book is appropriate for kids in elementary school to read to, however I believe that it's more appropriate for students in 1st to 2nd grade for an independent read. Review: I chose this book mainly because of the amazing pictures that the illustrator portrayed in the book. When I was flipping through the pages when I first picked up the book, the detail of the monsters made them hilarious and gave them character. This book is about a boy missing the monster under his bed, and requests a new monster, but none of them seem to appease him. I loved how instead of being scared of the monsters, the boy wasn't scared of the replacement monsters that visited. 
Age/Audience: This book would be more appropriate for grades 2 to 3 in my opinion. It is a rather long book that wouldn't hold a younger grade's attention unless they really liked monsters. Review: This books is an emotional story of how a young boy from Japan. The author talks about how his father rejected him because he wanted to be an artist and, after moving to America, how he became a world-renowned artist. It also talks about his life in the midst of World War 2, and how his mentor turned into his father. I chose this book because of the illustrations and the history. This is also a good example of an auto-biography.
Age/Audience: This book is very long and has a complex story-line. Because of this, I believe that students in 5th grade are able to read this. I also believe that students would be interested in this if they like history or art.
Mirror/Window: I feel as though this is more of a window into the life of a Japanese-American in the United States during World War 2 and of an aspiring artist. The class comes together and helps her pick her name. Review: I chose this book because it is one that I read in my elementary school days. I find it very cool that as the series progresses, the books get harder. The series can follow the child through their schooling. It also goes with a movie series.
Age/Audience: 4th or 5th grade, for sure, and for students that love mystery and magic. Review: This is about a boy that learns he is the son of Poseidon and has to go on an adventure to find his father and save the world. I read this while I was in middle school (when it first came out) and enjoyed it. I like that it is also a series (but I would never show the movies unless talking about how it butchered the book and how books re always better.)

I would keep it in my library, but maybe not advertise it as much because of the dark themes. Review: This book is about a family that gets torn apart and they have to find an evil withc to bring them back once they get trapped in a book. I love this book because it really is a good example of a book that transports you inside the book, and I found myself looking up two hours later disoriented because I was so involved with the story.
