The gastronomy in our area is varied and rich. The fact that we are surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean Sea is reflected in our dishes. The Ebre River crosses our area, which is filled with vineyards, olive, almond, and orange crops. Therefore, the main ingredients in our gastronomy are; rice, fish, seafood, pork, and lamb meat and fresh vegetables and fruits from our farmlands. Also, our pastries from the Arab tradition are specially delicious. There are many restaurants that offer a great variety of traditional dishes; such as our famous rice with cabbage and beans, rice with duck, rice with seafood, clotxa (thick crusted bread with abundant crumb, emptied and filled with herrings, sardines, garlic, onion and tomatoes), Delta oysters, rice sausages. In fact, we have two Michelin-starred restaurants in our town: Les Moles and L'Antic Molí.

History (Batalla Ebre - Spanish Civil War)

The Battle of Ebro was a very important civil war in Spain. It lasted three years, from 1936 to 1939. Back then, we have to consider that we were in a dictatorship, led by Francisco Franco. The Civil War in Spain had two sides: the Republican Popular Army and the Spanish Nationalist Army (under Franco's leadership), which lasted 115 days and was the most terrifying battle of the century. Some of the most affected areas were Corbera d’Ebre and Tortosa. There were several consequences. At the end, almost 500,000 people died, and the country had many economy problems.

Our high school is called Manuel Sales i Ferré, who was a very important person in our literature. You can find our high school next to the primary school, situated in the middle of the town. Our high school, it's not the biggest one, but the fact of being in a small town, become it bigger. There, you can find many classrooms such as a library, a big class called 'Sala d'actes' that we use for talks or meetings, a gymnasium to do P.E with the playgrounds too and some laboratories where we go once a week in each subject: Chemistry, Biology and Technology. There is also a big playground with a café, where you can buy food, and, next to it, a poetic garden, where we have done some Catalan lessons. (In Catalonia we speak two languages; Catalan and Spanish)
