even though the government approves most GMO products they can not be completely trusted to eat. One con about GMO products is that we don't know the bad health effects that could come in the long run. Another con is the fact that most percent of crops in the U.S. have pesticides and herbicides sprayed on them to survive bugs and weeds. This means that a lot of the crops go into most of the foods that we eat. However, with the cons come a few pros. One of these pros includes the fact that some GMO foods have anti-oxidants that may help prevent cancer and allow foods to last longer. Another pro is that farmers depend on GMOs for their crops to grow faster, and then make more money in the food industry.

Another bad effect about GMOs is how we don't know what to expect since they have not been around for a long time and that can lead to negative outcomes. A good part about GMOs is how it can help people struggling through cancer and prevent people from getting the disease, as well as GMOs offering more options and ways of a food company to gain success.

-Ninaaaaaaa and Claireeeeeeee

The main idea of the text is that GMO's have pros and cons. In the text, the author writes that GMO's have a negative impact on the environment because they kill off insects and add chemicals to fruits and vegetables. Another reason why GMO's have pros and cons is because they can prevent illness. In the text, the author says that a pink pineapple that is awaiting approval is bred to kill off cancer. Another reason is that there is no way of knowing what long term health effects GMO's may have on consumers (humans). Lastly, companies are refusing to put labels on fruits and vegetables that contain GMO's. People who are on a strictly organic diet are upset that there is no way of know if something is infused with GMO's.

-Sophia M and Julia O

The central idea is that GMOs can be bad and good this is supported because gives us many examples. some good examples are that they help feed lots of the population. they also kill insecticides and insecticides are not good. The bad things are that we are mixing genes of animals that we have never mixed before. Since GMOs can not be affected by herbicides, this allows farmers to use more chemicles. In turn using more chemicals can cause harm to the environment

A pro of GMOs is how good it makes food taste. Most parts of GMOs are bad. According to most scientists including Lena Romaldini. Lena is "a 21 year old who goes to the University of New Hampshire who tries to buy organic foods.". She says that mixing the DNA of plants is like "playing with god". Another reason is from the text "between 1996 and 2011 bug killing corn reduced insecticide use in corn production by 45 percent worldwide." This shows that most food restaurants need to go GMO free because it can harm your health care. Another piece of evidence is that some average food like cereal or pizza can contain lots of GMO that young Americans eat everyday.
