(2) North American continent is made up of 3 major countries and many other tiny countries. The lowest point in the North American Continent is Death Valley, California (see picture above) at about 85m below sea level. 

The white stuff covering the ground in Death Valley is NOT SNOW, it is SALT! Rainwater dissolves minerals from rocks and this water drains to Death Valley. In Death Valley, the water evaporates and leaves the minerals/salts behind. After thousands of years of this, enough salts have gathered here at the bottom of this continent to create the picture above.
