Gather and evaluate information for learning: The non-fiction text sets that my students use to write their argument and informative essays are completely self created.
Create something original: Instead of writing a final paper about what they learned as a result of their I-Search research, my students were able to use the chromebooks to create projects. They made movies, shared powerful video compilations, created surveys and shared data
--all things that they would not have been able to do without the chromebooks.
Communicate: We are a nearly paperless classroom. My students and I are able to communicate with each other via email every day. My favorite thing is when they send me links to things pertaining to my Genius Hour project or my I-Search question.
Work collaboratively for learning: None of these projects were done alone. They are working together constantly, which would be nearly impossible without the chromebooks.

Before, when we went into a writing lab, I only knew what my students were doing when they handed in a published document. Now, I can be with them every step of the way. I can talk with them, I can draft on their draft, and we can edit together. Learning is more collaborative, and students edit more because they don't reprint. GoogleDocs and Classroom make the process seamless.
