         <description><![CDATA[<div>Charlie Gordon is a 37 year old man who has severe intellectual disabilities.  He cannot read or write well and it is clear that he lacks the ability to think or understand much about what goes on around him.  After taking a series of tests, Charlie is selected for an operation that might make triple his intelligence.   The doctors who will perform this surgery argue about his qualifications, but they decide that he is intensely motivated, as shown by the fact that he has learned to read and write even though he has a "low mental age."</div>]]></description>
