"You Know Me Well" Book Review

You Know Me Well is a young adult novel telling the story of two high school student's stressful lives, over the course of a week. The two characters, Mark and Kate, become friends suddenly but at a time of need for both of them. Mark is struggling to accept the relationship with his best friend, Ryan, after a lot of confusing signals. Kate is finding herself through her passion of painting while the stress of high school ending is weighing down of her. The story is told with character point of view changing between Kate and Mark, each chapter. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it represented the LGBTQ+ community with both characters, while still not making that the focus point
in the story. I was also able immediately connect with the character Mark and the situation he was in. I don't know if I can think of a book to compare it to, because it was still considered "young adult", though it dealt with such serious topics. Overall, I really loved this book and look forward to reading more from both authors.

"The Land of Stories: An Author's Odyssey" Book Review

An Author's Odyssey is the fifth book in the Land of Stories series, written by Chris Colfer. It is catergorized as a young adult series, though I feel it fits all ages. The series tells the story of two twins, Alex and Connor Bailey, who find out their own grandma is linked to another "Fairtytale" universe in which all of our classic childhood story characters live. Through the four book prior to the one I'm discussing, the Bailey twins repeatedly travel back and forth between universes, fighting battles and learning more about their family. At the point of An Author's Odyssey book, Alex, one of the twins has become the fairy godmother after her grandmother had died from the position. Connor had gone back to live in what they call the Otherworld, which is what we call our regular universe. At the end of the previous book, Alex finds some mysterious information that her dad, whom she thought had been dead for many years is actually alive in the Fairytale world. This begins to get in her mind and affect the way she can do her job because she is so surprised and is aware that her dad is actually a criminal now who is planning big attack. This ends up resulting in Connor coming back to the Fairtytale world and having to use a magic potion to access fictional characters that he made up to recruit them in an army to deadest the twins dad in the Fairytale world. It is very complicated and detailed, so very hard to write briefly about in a summary, but that is the general story. In all, I really enjoyed this book and I can't way for the next book in this series!
