The Holocaust was a genocide during World War II in which Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany, aided by its collaborators, systematically murdered some six million European Jews, around two-thirds of the Jewish population of Europe, between 1941 and 1945. Jews were targeted for extermination as part of a larger event involving the persecution and murder of other groups, including in particular the Roma, ethnic Poles, and "incurably sick", as well as political opponents, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and Soviet prisoners of war.

Nuremberg Laws - These new laws which institutionalized many of the racial theories prevalent in Nazi ideology. The laws excluded German Jews from Reich citizenship and prohibited them from marrying or having sexual relations with persons of "German or related blood." Ancillary ordinances to the laws disenfranchised Jews and deprived them of most political rights.

Undesirables - The Nazi list of "undesirables" included individuals and groups such as homosexuals, alcoholics, and homeless vagrants. Ideological opponents such as Communists or members of certain churches were persecuted even if they were considered members of the "Aryan race." Jews fit into this due being the main target of the state.

The Final Solution - The origin of the "Final Solution," the Nazi plan to exterminate the Jewish people, remains uncertain. What is clear is that the genocide of the Jews was the culmination of a decade of Nazi policy, under the rule of Adolf Hitler. The "Final Solution" was implemented in stages. After the Nazi party rise to power, state-enforced racism resulted in anti-Jewish legislation, boycotts, "Aryanization," and finally the "Night of Broken Glass" pogrom, all of which aimed to remove the Jews from German society. It was executed over time by slowly restricting and decreasing German Jew's rights to the point of no human rights, and no freedom.

Concentration Camps - A quote from Harry J. Herder, Jr. was "They came out of the buildings and just stood there, making me feel foolish with all of that firepower hanging on me. I certainly wouldn’t be needing it with these folks". This showed the general reaction of the American soldiers after liberation. They were prepared for a dangerous reaction after arriving at the camps. The soldiers gave them food and rescued them from the camps.

Nuremberg Trials - The Nuremberg Trials were a series of military tribunals held by the Allied forces under international law and the laws of war after World War II. The trials were most notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the political, military, judicial and economic leadership of Nazi Germany, who planned, carried out, or otherwise participated in the Holocaust and other war crimes. The trials were held in the city of Nuremberg, Germany, and their decisions marked a turning point between classical and contemporary international law.
