Hi there! My name is Mitch E. Sonan, but let’s not make things too formal, shall we? My friends and family call me "Mitchay" or "Chang", and honestly, I think nicknames are like badges of love. My teachers and classmates, though, call me "Mitch" —probably because I want to seem like I have my life together (spoiler: I don’t, but we fake it ‘til we make it!).

Seventeen is that in-between stage—still young enough to dream big, but old enough to start making them happen. My zodiac sign is Leo, so I’m bringing that same determination, generosity, and love for life with me into this new age.

My personality type is ENTJ-T, also known as The Commander. I agree with the result because I also got the same outcome when I took the test back in 2023, which honestly shocked me. It felt like a form of assurance that I am still fit to be a leader—just like before, when I led with both compassion and commitment. The consistency shows that my core traits haven't changed much, especially my drive to lead with purpose and push towards goals. The description aligns with how I carry myself: confident, straightforward, and focused on results. I also relate to the part about investing deeply in relationships that meet my standards, because I value meaningful connections. While I enjoy taking the lead, I’m also aware that being a good leader means growing emotionally and understanding others better. This reminds me to balance strength with empathy. Overall, the result feels accurate and motivating. It reinforces that leadership is not just a skill, but part of who I am.

As an ENTJ-T, my natural leadership skills and determination allow me to guide others toward shared goals with clarity and purpose. I thrive in group or community settings where I can motivate and organize people to work efficiently and confidently. My personality helps me uplift others by offering a strong sense of direction and inspiring them to do their best. However, I also recognize that being a person with and for others requires more than just leading—it requires listening, empathy, and emotional connection. That’s why I continuously work on being more emotionally present and sensitive to the needs of those around me. Developing emotional intelligence helps me support others not just in tasks, but in their personal struggles too. This balance of strength and compassion allows me to serve with both heart and purpose. My ENTJ-T traits push me to improve not just myself, but the community I’m part of. It reminds me that leadership is most powerful when it empowers others. Through this, I hope to become someone who not only leads well but genuinely cares.

This week has been particularly stressful due to the overwhelming number of academic tasks. I had to prepare for quizzes in Biology, EAPP, CST, Earth-Sci and Chemistry, while also working on a topic presentation for Practical Research, which left me mentally drained. Environmental stress also plays a role, especially in our classroom where the overly bright window and constant noise from classmates make it hard to concentrate. At home, I feel anxious when my study space is messy, which adds to the difficulty of staying focused. Lastly, as a teenager, I constantly deal with physiological changes—like being overly conscious about my appearance. I remember feeling extremely frustrated over a single pimple caused by my menstruation, and it genuinely affected my confidence and mood that day.

One coping strategy that helps me is social engagement—talking to my friends or classmates when I feel overwhelmed. Expressing what I feel makes the stress more manageable, especially when others relate or offer advice. It reminds me that I’m not alone and that support is always available. Another helpful strategy is learning to adapt to stressors by adjusting my mindset. Instead of complaining about school tasks, I try to break them into smaller steps and take them one at a time. I also remind myself that stress is part of growth and it can be handled with the right attitude and time management. Lastly, an unhealthy coping strategy I tend to do is oversleeping to escape stress. I’ve realized that sleeping too much makes me feel more sluggish and unmotivated. To turn this into a healthier habit, I now aim to get just the right amount of sleep—around 7–8 hours—and set alarms so I can start the day with a better routine and clearer mind.

There was a time during a major school project when one of our group members suddenly stopped communicating and contributing just a few days before the deadline. I felt overwhelmed, frustrated, and honestly a bit betrayed because we had all agreed to share the workload fairly. These emotions affected my ability to focus at first as I kept replaying the situation in my head, feeling stressed and unsure if we could still pull it off. But after letting myself feel upset for a while, I took a step back and reminded myself that stressing wouldn’t help solve the problem. I talked with the rest of the group, and together we reorganized the tasks to make up for the missing help. I managed my emotions by taking breaks when needed, listening to music to clear my head, and setting small daily goals to stay productive. In the end, staying calm and focused helped us finish the project successfully.

Creating the mind map really made me pause and think about how I actually learn. It wasn’t just about listing study techniques—it helped me see the bigger picture of my habits, my strengths, and the areas I can still improve on. I realized that caring for my growth (cura personalis) means making sure I’m not just focused on academics, but also on my mental health, emotional balance, and physical well-being. It reminded me that learning is a whole-person journey, and that I need to nurture every part of myself to truly grow. With this understanding, I can be more intentional in using study methods that energize me and keep me motivated instead of drained.

Discovering my thinking style gave me a better understanding of why some study habits feel natural to me while others take more effort. As an Atenean, pursuing magis means striving to do more and do better—not just in terms of quantity, but in the quality of my work and the way I approach my responsibilities. This means I can adapt my daily study habits so they work with my strengths, while also challenging myself to improve in areas I usually avoid. I can set clearer goals, manage my time more effectively, and approach my tasks with focus and creativity. By being more self-aware, I can consistently push myself to grow, not only as a student but as a person who wants to make a meaningful impact.
