I plan to enhance my note taking by switching from the outline method to the Cornell method. I think it will be more effective for reviewing and retaining information because of its structure of pulling out key points and summarizing them in my own words, as opposed to the outline method of copying down information as it was stated or written.

One way I plan to enhance my note taking is by preparing more before class. I want to review the material ahead of time and write down questions or key topics so I know what to focus on during lecture. During class, I’ll continue using bullet points, but I’ll also leave space to add follow-up notes after class. I also plan to review my notes within 24 hours so I can highlight key ideas and summarize what I learned. I believe this will help me retain information more effectively and stay more engaged during lessons.

Given that I already utilize the Outline Format method, something that I plan to utilize is by writing down my notes with a pen, except with specifically color coded ones. As someone who personally has a good variety of colored pens, I feel like the benefit of them being a combination of darker and lighter colors can help me take in what can be the main subject of a lecture, followed by what the supporting evidence is. For example, darker colors can represent important topics of a lecture, and lighter colors can be supporting details that fall under the topic in question.

Something I will try to enhance my note taking is writing with colored pens. This will help to organize my thoughts. I can make the main subject a more vibrant color, while a side subject can be a less eye catching color. By linking a color to a specific piece of notes, I think I will have an easier time remembering!

Before class, I will always check my backpack to make sure I have the materials I need. I will also always review material from earlier class sessions 30 minutes before a class. That way, when I study for a test later, I will already be more familia with certain topics.

A way I can enhance my note taking is using color, bolding text, and visuals. I find that I can retain information and study better if everything is organized and visually appealing. Before class I can make sure I have different colored pens and after class I can study what I wrote. During class I can break the lecture into different subjects and categories using different color coordination.

I plan to improve my note-taking by reviewing previous notes before class and creating an outline for the next lecture. I often find myself engrossed in a lecture because I never reviewed the material and it is all new to me. This often results in me missing notes or missing the lecture because I am writing notes. If I had an outline beforehand, I could write in key details and anecdotes from the lecture.

One thing that I think will improve my note taking skills is organization. I feel like in the past when I’ve taken notes, I just wrote all my thoughts down in one giant paragraph. Then when I go back to find something that I’ve written down it’s difficult to find what I’m looking for. If I practice organizing my notes with headlines or bullet points with whatever subject I’m writing about, I feel like that would be very beneficial for me. I also think that adding color coordination to that would help my brain to remember certain things I’ve written if I remember what color I’ve written it in.

In accordance with my very detailed and strict sense of note taking, I always make it a priority to get a copy of the power point slides used in lectures. When I took Astronomy 4 for instance, my instructor always had it in each canvas module, and that is the earlies that I recall making that a habit. It also made note taking a lot easier and I was more prepared for weekly quizzes.

I typically have stuck with the common outline format when taking notes, which I now see that for me is a bit too copy and paste. With the intention to improve my skills, I’m going to make the switch to the Cornell note taking method. This way any questions, main ideas, and information are kept track of with a better structure and organization. The addition of creating summaries will be helpful when checking my comprehension and reviewing my notes. I can see how switching to the Cornell method will create more efficient study guides post note taking as well.

One note taking strategy I will utilize is summarizing my notes at the end of each chapter. I already try to annotate to help me understand the material better, but have a small summary after every chapter will make it easier to circle back through my notes and have quick and easy explanations ready for me. To improve my note-taking habits I'm going to actually review my notes and maybe rewrite them while pulling in additional information from the internet or any additional reading in the class. I'm also going to take advantage of teachers who either post slides or let us take pictures so I can just get down key details instead of writing fast to try to get the most down while missing what the teacher is saying. To improve my note-taking habits, I think I'll attempt to use more of the Cornell Notes method. Normally, I would take notes using the first method mentioned in the video, but it hardly helped me because I would write all my information down without actually knowing what I'm taking notes on. The Cornell Notes method will help me improve my note taking habits because I'll be able to keep my notes organized and ask questions on the side for things I'm unsure of and hopefully be able to answer myself or ask the instructor by separating the questions I have while continuing taking notes at the same time.

One way I’m going to enhance my note-taking is by making it a habit to review my notes for 30–45 minutes before each class. I want to go over what I previously wrote, look up anything I didn’t understand fully, and do a little extra research on unfamiliar terms or vocab so I’m better prepared for what’s coming up. I’ve realized that this is kind of like the “survey” step in reading that I usually skip,getting familiar with the big picture first helps everything make more sense later. I think taking a little time before class will not only help me stay more engaged but also help me catch on to new material faster. I also want to start leaving more thoughtful space in my notes to go back and fill in details after class, especially if I find better explanations or examples.

My note taking techniques aren't as in depth as i would like them to be. I'm going to incorporate more detail into what I'm writing down and in ways I will understand. Often times I will write something down but not thoroughly enough, and later I'll be confused by what i wrote. Taking my time and not rushing is something I need to get a better handle of. One way I'd like to enhance my note-taking skills is by summarizing the information in my own words. I typically do handwritten notes, organized with highlighters or markers. This helps me have the important information clearly stated and easy to find for review. However, I find that important details or extra information that help with remembering those key facts are left out. I think that using the recite step of the SQ3R strategy could be important for summarizing each chapter into my own words for an extra step towards understanding as much information as possible.

What I will do to improve my note taking is to try and annotate as much important information I can find then summarize all of my notes and each chapter I read, so I feel more inclined to taking the assignment more serious and to help myself actually remember the information. It would also help to organize my notes and write down where each note was from, so I can find the original info if I have any issue explaining it clearly or need to include more context. The method I would like to do to better improve the way the information is received to me is to put the main ideas of concepts into my own words when taking notes. There are times where the topic I am trying to learn can be a bit overwhelming to try and understand all at once, with new terms or vocabulary. From now on, every time I go to class, I’ll check that I have the right materials and review the lesson ahead of time. This way, I’ll already have a good idea of what to expect, making it easier to follow along and focus on the important points. One thing is my note taking skills. I want to be able to get to the point where i can touroughly write down good information where i can understand it to the fullest later. Currenly when i do notes I take them by bullet, but i dont put down all of the information only the main points. Sometimes it affects me later on when I need the minor info. The first strategy I plan to use is trying a new format. I have always used the outline method with a very inconsistent outcome.
