Oh Briseis, captured from Troy's fight,

Even in the dark, your resilience shines so bright,

Taken from your home, amidst the cruel war,

Your spirit is strong, despite the horror 

I see your struggles, bound by fate’s hand,

But your hope stays fierce, even in a foreign land

Though in chaos no one listens to your voice 

Your strength is loud amongst the noise

Your struggles are a testament to your might,

A spark of warm hope on the coldest night,

Oh Briseis, in your eyes, I see the flame,

Your spirit is unbroken, as it will remain. 

Your courage is admirable, even in chains

In your resiliencee, a victory still reigns. 

Theme: The theme is that resilience and courage can shine even in the face of adversity. 

The speaker of the poem is Patroclus and the audience is Briseis. He is highlighting her struggles and resilience from his perspective. Patroclus observes Briseis and admires her strength despite her difficult circumstances. The poem employs imagery, metaphor, and personification to convey Patroclus' admiration for Briseis' resilience and allows the audience to empathize with her struggle and find inspiration in her courage.
