Jordan explains that she stays away from “clever, shrewd men”. The reason she does this is to remain in power and tells lies to have an advantage over others. This shows that she is a self centered person who only cares about her status and position of society. Her self centered ways make her a "new" kind of women in the roaring 20's. Such new women were called "flappers" because there actions were out of the social norm and were odd to what society was accustumed to.
