1) Molly Hayde -- 2) Finland

3) My name is Molly Hayde, and my results revealed that I value Indulgence over Restraint. I feel as if this revelation fits my personality extremely well, as I value my time spent with friends, family, or by myself, doing something I love and enjoy. To me, it is important that everyone indulges in life, living it to the fullest regardless of how it is perceived by others. At the end of the day, it helps your mental health, confidence, and work-life balance, all ideals important to myself. When someone attempts to tell me what I can and cannot do, I feel trapped. It hinders my ability to think clearly, function normally, and overall impacts my emotional regulation. Along with this, seeing that I value a balanced power system is reflective of who I am. I believe that people should have the right to have a say, a voice, as I myself have an opinion on just about everything, and want that validated. However, creating something so equal can create instability and mistrust, along with conflict, which I avoid at all costs. These results definitely portray my personality and values.

4) I scored "femininity over masculinity", and this impacts my interactions with others daily. When friends, colleagues, or even strangers feel the need to constantly boast about success, focusing on themselves and nothing else, it really rubs me the wrong way. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging success, but modesty and inclusitivioty is more important, and this type of conversation usually ends with an argument, one that will never reach an end. This score also impacts my interactions with others because I am not a competitive person, I feel as if everyone should get a chance to shine. Those who demonstrate over the top competitive natures often make me feel the need to push others towards success to challenge them, such as in sports or games.
I also scored "individualism over collectivism". Being more individualistic versus collective, I believe this causes myself to be more focused on my goals, my aspirations, and my well-being. This may cause my interactions with others to be somewhat cold or distant, however it can be situational. I do value independence, but my desire to help others succeed may often overrule this value in times of stress on my loved ones.

3) My name is Sophia Papantoniadis and based on my results, it showed that I prefer a balance between restraint and indulgence. I am not sure that I agree with this result based on my personality. The reason us because I really enjoy my time with my loved ones, my alone time, and doing fun things that bring me joy. I think it is really important that we all take the time do indulge because it helps to be happy. I also don't like being told what to do, I like to have the option and choice to do what I want otherwise it makes me feel uneasy. It also showed that I prefer a balanced power system and this does go hand in hand with my personality because I feel that everyone deserves and has the right to an opinion, I know I have opinions on many different things and I think everyone should be able to have that and talk about that if they want to. So, some of these results definitely match my personality but some are questionable.
4) I also scored to prefer individualism over collectivism and I agree that I am more individualistic than collective. I tend to be very focused on what is in front of me and spend a lot of time thinking about my future goals and how I can reach those for myself. I spend much of my time making sure I do all that I can to get there. I also spend a lot of time to myself when I know I need it which isn't necessarily bad but it can cause some issues. It may cause that I am not completely present with others even though I'm not trying to be not present but that can be annoying to people which is understandable. I also scored to prefer a balance between masculinity and femininity and this matches because although there are stereotypes of how men should be the breadwinners and the ones with the career and women should be the stay at home mothers who just clean and cook, I feel that both men and women can do and be both if they want to. I think that both are more than capable and I really think this should be balanced because at the end of the day, we are all humans. This can cause issues with people who disagree with this and it may cause discussions to turn into arguments which is not something I like or ever want but it definitely can which can get messy.

1) Olivia Boomhower -- 2) Netherlands

3) My name is Olivia Boomhower, and I learned quite a bit about myself from the results of the test. Overall, I feel my score is a close match to my personality, especially the deviation between my collectivistic perspective vs. the individualistic score for the Netherlands. I believe that this is a reflection of my Mexican heritage on my mother’s side. However, for some reason I figured I would score with more “low uncertainty avoidance,” but I am a lot closer to the other side which is “high uncertainty avoidance.” After considering this, I realized that I am the type of person who wants to know what I can expect, and when I can’t accurately predict what will happen in the future, I get paranoid and anxious. I also have always valued “indulgence” time, as I believe that life is so much more enjoyable when I can relax, observe, and ponder instead of having to constantly struggle through each day. That is probably the artist in me! This test was interesting to take, and I enjoyed reading about the differences between these categories and how I fit into them.

4) The first category that I will analyze is my quiz results for the low vs. high power distance. I scored close to the middle, slightly leaning towards low power distance. I believe that I this could affect my interactions with others in a few ways. As someone who has struggled and has had to take care of myself for many years, I have worked hard to be where I am. However, my husband’s support is a key aspect of this success as well, because before I met him I was living in poverty. As a result, I believe that less powerful people are overlooked and more powerful people are not doing what they should do for society. And when I meet someone who is oblivious to this power dynamic, I can sometimes feel resentful and angry, which could impact the way that I treat them. The second category I will look at is collectivist vs. individualist. I scored closer to collectivist, and as a result, I think that I treat people (especially those with low power dynamic) with empathy and compassion. I strive for equality and equitable resources/opportunities. Also, I have always been the “mom” of my friend group and seek cohesiveness when interacting with others; I try to keep things peaceful. Many have told me that I have a warm and peaceful demeanor, even when there is a lot of conflict going on. I think this is because I try to help everyone get on the same page and collaborate so everyone can “win.”

1.) Sophia Prado -- 2.) Sweden

3) My name is Sophia Prado and I am not at all surprised by my results, but enjoy the fact that what I already know has been confirmed. As someone who identifies as a Leftist (as opposed to a liberal), the idea that would score higher in collectivism than individualism makes a lot of sense to me. Community is one of my biggest values, and it's something I do believe more people should be prioritizing than already are. I am also very pleased with how high I scored in terms of indulgence vs. constraint. I am a huge advocate for consideration of mental and physical health and well-being in the workplace. Sweden is a country that I have just recently learned actually pays more during time-off, has mandatory paid vacation weeks, and a paid allowance while attending University. This is the kind of care I strive to see a government have for its constituents. I have definitely learned that I am still very passionate about wanting to make sure I am taking care of my mind and body as I am working to keep myself afloat. I work three part-time jobs and am a full-time student. I can’t afford to not be looking out for my help. And the desire I have for a strong community influences me to desire a comfortable life for those around me as well.

4) The first dimension I will examine is how high I scored on a preference of femininity. I have unfortunately fallen victim to abuse and harassment from men multiple times in my life, as well as the influence of toxic masculinity from people of all gender identities. While it would be silly to say that it’s because of these instances that I have a distaste for masculinity as whole, it definitely has affected the way that I interact with strong masculine presences, or the traits typically associated with it. It takes me a while to trust good intentions, and I do not always decide to do so. However, when paired with a healthy balance with femininity, it is a very comforting and safe space for me to be a part of. The second one that I want to touch on is my score leaning towards a lower uncertainty avoidance. I don’t think there can ever really be just one way to accomplish something. I do approach people who have a different way of trying things than I would with curiosity, and a desire to know more. I think that being set in your ways to a degree of stubbornness and judgment is harmful. And I am all for growing as a person

1.) Lily Brunk 2.) Netherlands

3.) My name is Lily Brunk and some of the results from this test were surprising to me! I am not surprised by my low power distance results because I believe that power should be distributed to everyone in a society. I also scored right in the middle of collectivism and individualism but was leaning more towards collectivism. This doesn't surprise me either because I believe both aspects are important. I think that having a balance between the two is important for me because I love to help other people and be a team player but sometimes that leads to me neglecting myself. It actually makes me kind of happy that I wasn't totally on the collectivist side because I have been trying to focus more on my needs and standing up for myself rather than always worrying about the well-being of others. I was pretty much in the middle on every scale which did surprise me. I would have assumed that I would have been more on the low uncertainty avoidance rather than being in between the two. This is because I believe that tradition is constantly evolving and out-of-the-box thinking is the best way to go. I am usually not anxious or stressed out when things are changing and evolving, so I'm not sure why I scored in the middle on that one. I think these results explained a lot about myself and I enjoyed reading the outcomes!

4.) The first outcome I will analyze for this is my results on masculinity vs. femininity. The results said I prefer femininity over masculinity, which did not surprise me in the slightest. This influences the way I interact with people around me because I will always stand up for my rights as a woman. I find it irritating when my friends who are men automatically assume I can't do something because I'm small, so my preference for femininity makes me react strongly to these ideas. This also makes me very empathetic towards people who are struggling, I am constantly getting myself into other people's issues to help them out because it hurts me when I see people I love hurting. The second result I would like to talk about will be my results on indulgence vs. restraint. I think this affects the way I interact with people because I constantly want to be having fun and getting the most out of my time in college. This helps me because it allows me to let loose and go on vacations and have fun with my friends when I can. This becomes a problem when it is time to get serious and I don't want to restrain myself from going out and having fun. I think this relates to the friends I have because I have friends that are always up to going out and doing fun things, but I also have friends who ground me and make me get things I need to get done. This affects the way I interact with people because sometimes I try to force people out of their comfort zones to indulge and have fun, but sometimes that could be seen as overbearing. Having that balance between the two and knowing when it is time to indulge or have restraint is something that I personally need to work on to better myself and my relationships.

3) My name is Aubrey Martinez and it was really interesting to me to see what my values were based on this quiz. I think my results did reflect my personality nicely. I feel I typically like to have a balance of both sides in most situations especially when it comes to things like achieving my goals. I like to set small goals and also make sure I can keep a bigger picture mindset as well. I also like to live my life in a way that I can be sure I am able to take care of myself and be financially stable for example, but I also like to try to take risks to try to get the most out of life.
4) Firstly, I scored towards femininity over masculinity, which does not surprise me at all. This impacts my interactions with others because cultures high in masculinity or individuals with masculine values have a very competitive, assertive, and success driven. Femininity is described as empathetic, nurturing, and inclusive. When I come across people who are more assertive and competitive for example, our personalities can sort of clash as our values are very different. I also scored between high and low uncertainty avoidance. This impacts my interactions with others because I can see myself being comfortable in participating in certain lifestyles that are more risk taking and uncertain but also like to have some certainty. I feel in this way I am able to fit in with multiple crowds and understand why others may make certain lifestyle decisions.

Maddie Rubin (1) Norway (2)

3. My name is Maddie and I matched the most closely with Norway. The results of this test were pretty much what I assumed they would be. I am a very middle ground person and I believe there is no one right way to do things but more of a balance. My preferences were all a balance between the two options except I leaned more toward femininity over masculinity. The balance between collectivism and individualism also made sense for my personality. I do have a lot of big personal goals and I want to achieve great things but I am also very much a people pleaser and I am constantly thinking about others or the group as a whole. I am also not a very competitive person and I think that contributes to not leaning more towards individualism. I was surprised to see that I had a balance between high and low uncertainty avoidance because I get very anxious about the uncertain or unknown. For example, I am uncertain about what grad school I am going to apply to and it has been very stressful for me because I don't like not having a plan. The one area that I had almost an exact 50/50 balance was the restraint vs indulgence category. I honestly would not have known which way I would fall on that preference so it makes sense that I am in the middle. Overall, I enjoyed getting to reflect about these topics and I think my results capture my opinions and personality well.

4. I think my results of a balance between individualism and collectivism influence both my professional interactions and my personal interactions. For example, I want to do well at work and I want to stand out and be noticed, however, I spend most of my time helping my coworkers to stay on task and be successful in their goals as well. At my job in particular, we are a very team based group of people. None of us could do our jobs without the other people. If I notice that one person is focusing more on their individual goals and not contributing to the greater good of the team, I will be less motivated to help them because I don't think it is fair that they are not helping others. Another dimension that affects my interactions with others is femininity vs masculinity. I scored more towards the feminine side on the quiz because I believe that women are perfectly capable of achieving what men can achieve. An example of how this affects my interactions is from my internship. My internship supervisor told me that I was in charge of cleaning and organizing the supply closet because I was a girl and girls are better at those things. This impacted my interactions with this supervisor because I lost respect for him. I felt like he was giving me a chore based on my gender which isn't fair in my opinion. Eventually, I stopped working at this facility because I did not appreciate the male dominated work space where I was not respected as an equal.

1) Katelyn Harper 2) Norway

3)My name is Katelyn Harper and I scored Norway on the cultural dimensions test. From the results of this quiz, I had no idea that I viewed more individualistic ideas compared to collectivist. I view myself as a team player even for the line of work that I do working in health care. I care about the team getting the work done and efficiently, but I tend to be hard on myself. How I do things and work a certain way are both restrictive and indulgent and I understand that more with this quiz. I reward myself with a 20-minute break every 50 minutes of studying or working and I can do this for a very long time and keep myself accountable. This quiz both made me realize what I value in myself and other people but also showed what I am like compared to a country's values.

4) One of the dimensions that I scored was Femineity over Masculinity as I scored more Feminine. In todays society with gender roles and expectations humans have on the opposite gender I feel that women fall short on leadership opportunities except in female dominated fields such as nursing, teaching etc. One of the interactions that I face is relationship expectation of equal housework and equal help parenting as that's what feminism represents is equality. Secondly the other quality that I tested was low uncertainty avoidance vs high uncertainty avoidance. I tend to save a lot of my money for expenses such as groceries, dates, to go coffee etc. Sometimes I don't have extra money to drop to go on trips with friends and that causes tension between us. I get viewed by some people as money saving and careful with overspending, but I also plan ahead for vacations and save the most I can to have fun. I feel that I am in the middle of this quality as I fear uncertainty and embrace it as there is not much I can control but I can prevent problems from happening in the future.

(2) Finland
(3) From this quiz I learned that I prefer a balanced power distance. While in this country there is a huge distance between the rich and poor, I believe the gap should be smaller yet not equal because those who contribute a lot should see a little more rewards than those who contribute nothing. I'm not surprised to see that I feel better in a society that blends collectivism with individualism. I avoid spontaneity and uncertainty at all costs as I like to plan, be organized, and logical about decisions I make. With this in mind, I'm also somebody who focuses on both long term and short term goals. Generally speaking I make plenty of small goals distributed around a realistic timeline so that I can accomplish long term goals. Most of the results fit my own perception, except the part that said I am pro femininity. While I believe there are large discrapencies between women and men in the workforce and how they are compensated, I don't see myself as a feminist. I do carry certain cultural beliefs about gender roles, and feel like I fit more with a balanced gender role, such as egalitarian mindset.
(4) I avoid uncertainty and because of that I don't tend to have "smooth sailing" relationships with people who are very spontaneous. This affects me mostly at a personal level, such as friendships, because in the workforce there is always structure that everyone has to adhere. My balance of individualism and collectivism can affect my interactions with others if that other person is either highly individualistic or collectivist. For instance, a friend might be suffering mentally or physically (i.e., high blood pressure) by doing everything their family dictates as correct (collectivist) and I would suggest that they do what their heart desires because I believe one's health and happiness is more important than traditional occupational practices. But I also come from a mindset that you take care of your parents and grandparents, and people might think that as an adult that's not my priority and I should just send them to a senior center. So it affects my interactions based on certain perceptual differences.

3. My results showed that I value long-term over short-term orientation. I believe that this fits well with my self-perceptions because everything that I do is motivated by making strides toward my long-term goals, rather than trying to accomplish short-term goals. I have always wanted to become a social worker and my dream job is to be a case manager for Child Welfare. Since high school, I have made a lot of steps and decisions to help push me toward that goal and be the best candidate imaginable. All throughout my life, I have set larger goals that I want to accomplish within a certain time, and to get there, I accomplish shorter goals in between. I have always thought it is interesting how people can take things one step at a time. I think that there are pros and cons to being a long-term kind of person. There is a lot of anxiety and stress when looking at things as the bigger picture. It is important to remind myself to take things one step at a time. It is also really beneficial and helpful for me to know that there is direction in my life and that I have a plan for what I want to do and where I want to be in life.
It was also revealed to me that I prefer femininity over masculinity. After reading the description, I agree that this accurately reflects my beliefs. I care a lot more about nurturing and a gentle approach to life, rather than assertiveness. By preferring a more feminine approach in a leadership role, I think that a society would thrive under care and a more open and modest style of leadership. I am a dance coach, and when I am leading the girls, I make sure to create an empathetic and safe environment because I think it helps the girls thrive and focus on what they need to.

4. I scored low uncertainty avoidance, rather than high uncertainty avoidance. I think that this gives huge insight into my interactions with people daily. I am a very open person and believe that there is no right or wrong way to do things in life. Everyone is raised and developed differently and the way that we carry ourselves will differ accordingly. In my daily interactions, I think that it makes it easier to relate and connect with others because there are no barriers holding me back from my interactions. By not holding onto traditional mindsets and views, I can be more knowledgeable about how society has changed. I also scored indulgence over restraint, meaning that I value fun and enjoyment over social expectations and taboos. I think that this affects my interactions because I put a lot of effort into doing activities with my friends and planning different trips and adventures for us to go on.

2.) South Africa
3.) This quiz came me come insight on myself that I not only see in my own culture but how it is similar to the South African culture. There were a few of my results that were similar to those of the South African culture and a few that weren’t. In some cases, these results fit into my own cultural beliefs. One thing I was able to gain from this quiz was that unlike the South African culture I prioritize long-term goals over short-term. This result I think really fits into my own self-perceptions because I am an extremely future focused person. especially recently while going through college my mind has been on what to do after graduation and what decision will be best to make sure my future is set up the way I want it to be. Alongside South African cultures I rated higher in indulgence than I did restraint. This is pretty accurate to my life as I find myself being able to enjoy life rather than being frowned upon for doing so by people around me.
4.)Under the category of uncertainty avoidance, I was almost in the middle but scored a little more toward low uncertainty, but not by much. I think this allows to me to have no restrictions in the communications I have with other and allows for me to be more comfortable in any given situation especially when it comes to unpredictable things that might occur. In my everyday life there is a balance between collectivism and my individualism due to my cultural values. I do lean more towards individualism I think that this can. In a way I think this can sometimes affect my communication towards others. I value time to myself and making sure my own needs are being met so much sometimes that I do forget the importance of ingroup interactions.

3) I don't know exactly what country I was expecting, but Zambia was an interesting one to match with. My results showed that I want balance in every category. I am not surprised by this result because I want everyone to have a fair share at life. I think women and men are naturally good at the common aspects they are seen in but can strive in areas that some people cannot see. Making goals for yourself is important and can bring pride to oneself when you meet those accomplishments but I think it is crucial to support those in your community. There is nothing more rewarding than volunteering and helping those who are in need.
4)One of the categories that I chose to focus on is uncertainty avoidance. My score reflected that I want a balance of high and low uncertainty. I like having a plan for the day and the future, but I am also flexible with change when time goes on. It helps me anticipate what I can expect for the day, but it is exciting when something different happens. Yet, having a plan can make me a little anxious when it doesn't completely turn out which can affect my interactions with others. Furthermore, life is to be enjoyable so I love interacting with strangers, friends, and families. I want a balance of indulgence and restraint because human desire should de fulfilled at time, but you do not want to steer completely off path due to possible distractions. This can make me overthink certain interactions with others.

3)My name is Rhianna Hampton and my results showed that I prefer a balanced power distance, and that I am more Individualistic rather than collectivistic. I would generally agree with these results based on how I have grown up and what my personal goals are. From my results I did learn that I find a balance between masculinity and femininity. I did not realize this until I was reading the questions and I did not have any really hard feelings towards anything. I was generally placed in the middle. I feel that my results were pretty accurate because I tend to focus a lot on my own personal goals and I want to achieve those goals over a group goal. But this can also change depending on my setting or environment. I am a manager at a restaurant and when I am in that environment of course I focus on the group rather than myself. So I believe a lot of my thoughts and values depend on my current environment. I feel it was hard for me to understand before this quiz if I was more of an individualistic person because I do care a lot about other people and I always want to please people, so depending on what I am doing, I sometimes will do something to get a good response out of the people around me, which I feel is more collectivistic. But I feel this quiz just helped me understand myself better as to why I am a certain way.

4) My results showed a balance power distance. I think that I feel this way because within society we need rules, and something to follow, but I also believe that power should be able to be question, I think it is good to hear the voices and opinions of individuals lower in the power field. This creates a more inclusive society where everyone feels they can voice their opinions. But with this I also think that power should be listened too and there should be an effort to understand why decisions and certain things were done and made. This would affect my interactions with people because I am confident enough to question authority in a respectful manner to better understand the reasoning behind it. But this does not mean I would have a problem with those above me, because I understand that within our society there will be power differences and that is usually good if used in the right way. My results also showed balance between masculinity and femininity. This would affect my interactions with people in the way that when approaching a man I would expect the same level of respect that I would give them or that they would give to another male figure. When it comes to a work place I expect to be treated and listened to the same way a man would be. But I also understand that when it comes to leaders such as the president I believe it will always be a man. I 100% support female runners, but within our society I feel men make more decisions based on reason rather than emotion which plays a huge role in government issues, and politics. This is my personal opinion but I feel men tend to make better leaders. But when it comes to work and jobs, I do not think that women should be expected to stay home and take care of the kids, if a women has big goals, and she wants to be a CEO or a high official within any field of work society should not shame her or diminish her for that and she should be treated equally. I think men and women can play equal roles but are naturally better or more suited for certain things.

3. I am not surprised I scored high in individualism. I like to work alone and focus on my own personal success in my life, job, and schoolwork. I do not look to others for advice, but rather my own feelings and ideas. I like to work in solitude rather than with others. I sometimes get anxiety when around a lot of people. I also agree that my personality aligns with an equal short term and long-term orientation balance. I have long term goals and short terms goals. I focus equally on the moment and the future. An example for this would be my goal of getting my counseling certification and going into private practice, whereas my short term goal is to get an A on my exam this week.

I do think I have a nice balance of indulgence vs restraint in my life, which my results concurred. I have a lot of restraint to get my work done on time and to the best of my abilities no matter what, but after that has been achieved, I feel no guilt taking time for myself to have fun. I honestly think all of my results aligned with my self-perception and nothing surprised me.

4. I scored extremely high in femininity. This can affect my interactions with others because I am quite an agreeable person and would rather come to a common consensus than assert my opinion and force my decisions on others. This makes me a good group member and someone people usually enjoy working with.

I also am quite an empathetic and compassionate person, so I tend to get along with others and care about their feelings. This affects my interactions by allowing people to feel comfortable opening up to me and feeling I am a safe space to express their feelings.

I also scored high in uncertainty avoidance. This affects my interactions by wanting to plan everything out ahead of time. I like to have everything known and communicated. I hate just “going with the flow,” so I enjoy making lists and keeping with what has worked in my past experiences. An example of this would be in my job planning out everything that needs done for closing and keeping the same routine each night.

3) My name is Blanca Montes and I matched with the Netherlands. I was not that shocked to find my results were high in individualism and high in femininity. I would say that these results are accurate to the person I am and the values that I hold. I tend to be a very independent person and while I enjoy working with people, I feel that I do best by myself. I usually dislike working on group projects because I never know what people expect of me or what I should expect from them and that can feel very stressful. I am a strong believer of women’s rights and our independence, so it was not shocking to see that I scored femininity over masculinity. As an independent female I say that the test fits my personality well.

4) The first category I will examine is short-term vs. long-term orientation. I scored a tiny bit higher on the long-term orientation side and this makes sense with my way of viewing things. I love to have long term goals to look forward to but as someone who has ADHD, I really enjoy short-term goals because they make me feel closer to my overall goals. I feel that if I didn’t have shot-term goals to go along with my long-term ones then I personally would never feel accomplished. I like to view most of my life in terms of goals and how I can achieve them. Long-term goals are obviously big things like getting my degree in Psychology, but I cannot achieve my long-term goals without achieving short-term goals like completing a difficult semester or even simple things like making sure I am signed up for classes. Creating tasks and goals for myself allows me to better interact with friends and family because it allows me to be better at time management, which in turn allows me to be happier and less stressed. This ties in with the second category I want to talk about which is indulgence vs restraint. I scored higher in the indulgence category and lower on restraint. I feel that this is highly accurate because I had lived my life as a person who was raised with the values of restraint but as of 2-3 years ago, I made the conscious decision to take things more lightly and to enjoy my life more. It is an active choice I make, and I think that it has made me a happier person and has lowered my cortisol levels drastically. This helps me be able to hang out with friends more and allows me to not worry and allow myself to be in the moment.

3) My name is Autumn Dunn and my results revealed a preference for femininity over masculinity. I absolutely believe that this is in line with my own perceptions of myself. The test describes that low masculinity countries focus on values such as nurture, modesty, and empathy. Being a nurturing and empathetic person are two of the traits I pride myself on and I do my best to practice empathy every single day. I have been described by many as an HSP, or a Highly Sensitive Person, and would say it is an accurate description. Ever since I was little, my empathy and ability to connect with others on an emotional level were always present. Now as an adult, I am on the path to using my empathy for the greater good and becoming a therapist. Helping people always has been my goal and turned that love for people into a career is something I aspire to.

4) For the category of restraint versus indulgence, I scored very much toward the indulgent side. I believe that enjoying yourself and engaging in what makes you feel good is very important to living a content and fulfilling life. This definitely affects my interactions with others, specifically with family and friends. As someone who is relatively indulgent and free-spirited, I find myself attracted to those who feel the same and many of my friends reflect this. The ability to be me around people, especially my friends, and to participate in what makes me happy without any judgment is ideal. I feel like more "indulgent" friends allow for this. My interactions with my family are a whole different story. Most of my family are very restrained people, who often see indulgence as negative. Growing up, I was often discouraged from self-expression and reprimanded when I did not follow the strict social rules put into place. This created a lot of issues for my family and me. As I have gotten older and have gained independence and distance from my family, our relationship has improved greatly because I now have the power to participate in life how I would like, without their constant influence. In the second category, I'm going to analyze my collectivistic versus individualistic results. I scored collectivistic over individualistic. I believe that my interactions with those around me absolutely reflect this - it does not matter if you are a friend, an acquaintance, or a family member - I will always try to help those around me and support them. The community has always been immensely important to me and finding those around me whom I connect with and who have a reciprocal relationship of care and love is important to me. A big part of my collectivist attitude I believe comes from being the oldest sister in a family of seven children. My siblings were always the most important thing to me and still are, whatever they need I do my best to be there. I always want to care for those around me, family or not.

3) My name is Phoebe Dilts and I would have to say I learned a lot about myself from this test. One thing I learned is that I value balance between long-term and short-term orientation. This fits really well into who I am as a person as I love setting goals for myself for the future as well as goals on a day-to-day basis. A long-term goal of mine would be to get into a Speech Language Pathology school and receive my masters degree. A short term goal would be to get A's in all of my classes this semester! I tend to have goals that focus more on my education, but I would also say I have made life goals for myself as well. Sometimes I do get stressed and anxious about the future and the goals I have set myself, but then I tend to focus more on the short-term goals in that moment.

4) One of the dimensions I scored was individualism over collectivism. I was not surprised by this because growing up, I have always favored myself before others. I do realize this sounds very selfish, but I have run into many relationships where I put in more effort than I receive. This caused me to put my guard up and check in with myself more than others. When it comes to my family and a team, I would say I am very much a team player and favor that group setting. Another dimension I scored was a balance between masculinity and femininity. This was kind of shocking as I tend favor the relationships with my friends, who are mostly girls. I do think that there are certain skills and traits that we need men for, however I do think us women could figure it out on our own. Since I have a sister and mom, women kind of trump my dad when it comes to decision making in our family. However, I rely heavily on my dad when it comes to certain tasks that I do not understand how to do. With this, I am open to making friends and having interactions with people of all genders.

3.) My name is Brinley Beard and I found this quiz to be very insightful in learning how my personality traits or beliefs correlate with Norway. I do feel like the results reflect my personality accurately. All of my results make sense to me as they are a true reflection of my beliefs about how a society should be run. I believe that there should be a balance of power within everyone in a society and not just given to one or a few people, which is reflected in my low power distance score. I feel like I am the type of person who believes in a balance of everything and that is shown in my individualistic/collectivistic score where I am about in the middle but leaning more toward individualism.

4.) The first dimension I will discuss is feminity versus masculinity. I scored completely toward femininity and this did not surprise me at all. I am a firm believer that women can do anything that a man can do, if not more. It does upset me how in the past and even the present, men are typically the top decision maker and/or breadwinners of the family. This affects my interactions with others because I have always and will always stand up and speak out for women’s rights. This can either create hostility or strong connections depending on who I am surrounded by. I have found myself in differences with several males due to this because they assumed that since I am a woman, and a small one at that, I couldn’t do or handle the things that men could do. On the other hand, this trait has created many strong connections with women due to our mutual belief and understanding of each other. The second dimension I will discuss is restraint versus indulgence. I scored pretty much in the dead center of these traits. I think this reflects me accurately because I see the importance of each of these traits. This affects my interactions with others because while I am also down for having fun, I’m also the one who often has to speak up about it being time to restrain and get to work or whatever it may be.

From the results that were gained after taking the test showed how balanced my ideas were. They were interesting in the fact that I could easily take a pen and put in the "average" of the dots and it would make a line through the middle of the chart. This does not contest my own perceptions of myself as I have always felt that I am someone who fits on "both" sides of various culture types/dimensions. For example, I am collectivistic in that I believe that doing something good for the group can be just as great was doing something for yourself. For example, I worked extra time at my oldjob, even though I was not payed to do because we were understaffed. However, I would occasionally take days off whenever I needed to get school work done. Though most did not deviate far from the middle, two dimensions that seemed interesting to me were the feminine and short term orientation. A less masculine or more feminine cultural belief is one that emphasizes nurturing, and empathy. For example, I more likely to empathize with people even if I lack knowledge about them rather than compete or be assertive. When it comes to my short term orientation, it states that it is a lack of investment in the future and beliefs in maintaining stability. This definitely shows up within me as a majority of the time I interact with others I generally try to maintain a stable relationship and believe in having a stable life rather than investing in the future.

3. I thought this quiz was really interesting to see how my values compare with other values that are prominent in other cultures, in this Case with Finland. I got a balance between collectivism and individualism because I think there's a strong component in making sure you balance yourself along with your group interactions and collective engagement. I expected there to be a lot of balance, because it fits a lot with my mentality on how I think there's so many benefits to having power and regulation, but it can't be strict and with no room for individualistic intake and balance between two ideas.
4. Mine showed a balance in high and low uncertainty avoidances and also a balance in short and long-orientation. Both of these follow with me and how I live my life, because typically I like to have a plan for the day and be organized but I also value spontaneity, which allows for more flexibility a lot of the time. In terms of interactions with others, it can definitely depend on the day and what I have to do and what I will prioritize, in that case I would have limited to no interaction with others, or have a very high interaction rate. Then with the long and short term orientation, I think it's important to focus on both and live in the moment but also think ahead to how your actions may affect your future self.

3) From this quiz, the results don't surprise me much. I absolutely value femininity and equality or inequality. I am surprised I lean closer to individualism than collectivism since my upbringing included many themes of collectivism. However, I am glad I lean closer to individualism since I value this more. I agree with where I stand regarding short-term or long-term orientation, I try to focus on the now along with the future in my goals and actions. I don't allow myself to worry too much about the future, but I don't wholly disregard how my actions now can affect it. For example, I take steps in school and work to move toward my future goal of becoming a counselor but I don't put too much pressure on this goal since another path may present itself. I think I do indulge in myself but also show restraint when it comes to work and school. I thought I would've been more in the middle than leaning more toward indulgence, but it doesn't surprise me too much.
4) Being that I am more individualistic than collectivist, this may affect how I interact with others because my actions are based on personal values and beliefs rather than the collective whole. I may come off as rude or stuck up, but this isn't always the case since I value myself and my own opinion more. I do still treat others with empathy and compassion, but I will put myself first.
I value feminity more than masculinity and this shows in my interactions by me being empathetic and nurturing rather than competitive. I would not consider myself a competitive person and I always try to be equal in my actions while still being caring. I don't believe in a dog-eat-dog mentality and wish to raise everyone as a whole, even though I am more individualistic.

1) Breanne Wasnea -- 2) Zambia

3) My name is Breanne Wasnea and I matched closely with Zambia which is a relatively balanced culture on all categories. I was surprised to find my results at the end of taking this test. I suppose my score represents me because of my belief in femininity. I believe women are just as capable as men in many situations. As a woman myself, I feel we should be allowed equal opportunity. My mother is the breadwinner of my household, which might be why I see this as normal. I also prefer a balance between collectivism and individualism. I am quite an independent person and usually take care of myself, though I believe group efforts and team work are important as well.
4) The first category I would like to take note of is the balance between indulgence and restraint. I believe relaxation is crucial for one's well being, though I think we should work for it as well. My family always said to me "work hard, then play." In other words, there should be a balance between work and free time. Not all of our time should be spent one way or the other. I believe us humans need work to find fulfillment in our lives. Things are much more valuable when we work for them ourselves. With this belief, I tend to give myself alone time here and there, but often work hard in school, work, and other social situations to earn my right to relaxation. The next topic I would like to discuss is power distance. Although power distance is commonly unavoidable in American culture, I believe too much power allotted to one person can be detrimental. When people have too much power, it can go to their heads. Often, powerful people can tend to be greedy and think for themselves rather than think about what is best for everyone. For this, I believe power should be equally distributed and managed. Not one group should have too much power. In social situations, I often listen to each person before establishing my own thoughts. i do not want to make anyone feel like they are wrong, as everyone has a say in things and should be allowed to voice their opinion.

I think that this quiz showed a lot of my characteristics and described my own self-perceptions in a great way. Reading through some of the cultural dimensions solidified a lot of my own beliefs. Some characteristics included a balance between short and long-term orientation, femininity over masculinity, and a balance between restraint and indulgence. My results showed that I prefer a balance between individualism and collectivism. This might affect my interactions with others who would rather heavily lean upon one or the either. I think that having a healthy balance is important because being able to look to your community is important but there is also a sense of individualism needed to be able to solidify reasoning and actions for yourself. Preferring femininity over masculinity may affect my interactions with others due to my different beliefs about men and women as opposed to other people. Especially now this has become a bigger debate between masculinity and femininity with feminism becoming a lot more popular among younger generations.

1.) Trinity Bounyavong --- 2.) Finland

3.) My name is Trinity Bounyavong, and the country I matched closely with was Finland. I learned about myself a lot while taking this quiz. I had to stop and think carefully about my answers, since there were the strongly agree, disagree, and neutral options that made it a bit more difficult to decide. I feel though that the results made sense of my own self-perceptions. I come from a collectivist culture where family is a big aspect of getting through projects and survival together. My Laotian heritage showcases the idea of collectivism heavily, while I also have been normalized to the American culture since I was born and raised here. Since I was exposed to both cultures, I began to understand that I also believe in individualism. In the United States, our society focuses on the self-sufficient individual since they represent themselves, not a family or group. Another thing I noticed was interesting from my results was to find out that I have a balance between indulgence and restraint. I am usually someone who believes that having fun and doing things that I enjoy should be a pretty big part of our lives. It is important to do that once in awhile, but I can also see where my Laotian heritage can come into play with this, since we prioritize other aspects in our lives than just having fun. For example, I would say that we work hard so then we can play hard. The idea of this is to work first so then we have the opportunity to have some fun.
4.) The two dimensions that I want to elaborate on, and acknowledge are femininity vs. masculinity and high uncertainty avoidance vs. low uncertainty avoidance. These two I feel like would affect the way I interact with others, because the results were not surprising but stood with me the most. The first dimension of femininity over masculinity showed how passionate I am about my rights as a woman. I did not think this was a shock since I will always speak up about what I am able to do as a woman. When men say snarky or demeaning comments, I will not be scared to stand up for myself and make them regret ever saying anything in the first place. I believe women are able to do anything a man can do, maybe even better which is why I feel that this dimension resonated with me the most. Next, my results showed that I had a balance of high and low uncertainty avoidance. Since I have been assimilated to almost three different cultures, I gained an understanding of why there was a balance. My Laotian and Thai heritage shows high uncertainty avoidance since my parents both were strict on me as I grew up, they were very upset when I would act out since I would disobey their "rules" or "traditions." That was when I was younger, which I realized why my parents were more stern on certain things than others. Where as, since we live in America, the low uncertainty avoidance also comes to play since they have been lenient to let things slide since we do not live in Laos or Thailand, where things would be way different. All in all, these would impact how I would interact with others the most.

3) My name is Joe and I feel that my quiz results are a solid reflection of how I see myself. Over time, I've leaned into ways of living where I'm more than happy to work toward a group goal. I do also believe it is important to focus on and take care of yourself which is why I believe I got a higher indulgence score. I can see why I leaned towards Feminine. As a culture, we have been raised in a male-dominated society and I think it's time for a change. I know that I live in a high-power distance, capitalistic society but I believe that, as shown in other places, if everyone works to help support each other there will be positive outcomes.
4) I'm pretty close to the middle of the individualistic and collectivistic categories but I do learn more to the collectivistic idea. This is due to beliefs about universal healthcare and universal preschool and childcare being a few off the top of my head. I personally believe we should try to support people who may be in more difficult places than others so we can provide opportunities for stable and healthy home and work environments. I know I live in a capitalistic and individualistic society and that will clash with others, especially living in an ultra-conservative state.

The low-certainty avoidance might not work with people that are strict about having a dedicated plan. If something isn't broken, there's no need to fix it but we can always reevaluate. I do believe in having a plan for things and trying to achieve the goal for said plan, but I think flexibility is necessary because who knows what could come up and happen. Something may throw off a plan and being willing to shift a mindset is important for reaching a destination. It's important to be able to adapt.

3. It makes my results. I always think its important to be having dun as well as working hard. I think burn out is so common and especially in workplaces and cultures that have high demands it can make life seem so depressing. I also have always had a balance between things. I am not a black or white person at all, always finds a gray area. I am not shocked that a lot of my results are not clear cut and involve a balance between the two. I love balance.
4. I have scored a low power distance result and that makes sense to me. I have a position of power in my sorority and I am often worried that it will come off as a hierarchy and I hate that image of coming across that you're better than someone. I often try a lot to make it clear that there is no one more powerful than someone else. I very much value everyones own strengths and what they bring to every situation. I also have a balance between collectivism and individualism. I think being a team player is important and having that connection is grounding and imperative for growth and wellbeing. I also see the value in doing your own thing and making those waves. I think a lot of my decisions regarding collectivism or individualism are situational.
