This regret directly coincides with the suffering of Prometheus, who has his stomach torn up by a bird every day because he gave man the gift of fire in his obsession with knowledge, and the gods punish him for it.

In the 18th century, not only was there a lack of funding for anatomical reasearch, but also a lack of availability of cadavers to reasearch on. The anatomists were left to stealing bodies our of graves and dissecting criminals. This led to riots and disagreements about the dissecting of bodies who were involuntarily donated. Much of the 18th century knowledge consisted of old manuscripts from Greece and Italy.

18 year old Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin was hanging out at a Swiss Lake house with her future husband Percy Shelley, famous Einglish poet Lord Byron, his doctor John Polidori , and others. An eruption of an Indonesian volcano Mount Tambora disrupted weather patterns and caused them to remain inside, bored out of their skulls. So Lord Byron challenged everyone to a writing competition to see who could come up with the scariest, freakiest, spookiest story. Polidori came up with 'The Vampyre' one of the first sexy vampire stories in the English language. Mary Godwin had a vision, that she turned into one of the more famous horror stories in English literature. Byron wrote a few fragments. She later revised it after loosing her husband and children, to give the story a grim tone

While the movie never actually states that this is a Frankenstein reference, it obviously is. Igor is Dr. Frankenstein's assistant in the 1974 film and in the newest adaptation, Igor.

Igor ends up creating life with lightning, much like the original movies, and naming her Eva.
