David Brooks does a very good job explaining their qualities and how to obtain these virtues. He shows that there are two basic types of virtues, there are resume virtues and eulogy virtues. The first step that he talks about is, The Humility Shift. This is the act of changing from the regular standing of society, which is vain and self loving, and shifting to a humble and other- centeredness. Another key to goodness and being virtuous is admitting to self defeat and taking a dependency leap.
