I wish that we could all take a bit more time and loosen the curriculum a bit, have a couple of weeks at the start of semester/term just to get used to whatever situation we are in then. Give time to (re)connect with people and spaces (physical and digital) and develop some more caring strategies to support students and staff moving forward

Suddenly things that we were so often told were impossible, became possible - whether that was working from home, participating in events remotely, reducing our carbon footprint and minimising unnecessary travel, all these things just happened and often it was technology that made it possible.

Having been working flexibly for a number of years it has been great to see the perceptions of how productive people are to take responsibility for their work. It has been great to see more trust in employees, more efficient working, less meetings, and new ways of working.

After a fast transition to all exams online we quickly found that using an alternative solution in Gradescope gave us a close match to how we wanted to deliver exams. As a product it is the closes thing to matching how markers want to mark that we have found.

Working from home

Working from home and connecting with the institution via Zoom has proven to be incredibly effective and I feel more productive and have a better work life balance due to not having to commute.

Student Involvement

I hope that the student perspective can be included in our plans as we go forward, including having student focus groups to test out all the technology we introduce and getting student feedback on the way we deliver blended courses.

Snapchat as a tutorial tool

I used Snapchat as a tutorial tool pre-pamdemic however it has become increasingly important and described as a life saver by many students during lockdown.
We integrated patient assessment videos on a Padlet and shared this with students who were able to conduct these assessment son family members and record their patient assessments on Padlet for feedback. This was shared on Snapchat.

I feel there is a slow wedge that is removing 'trust' within learning. Plagiarism detection, proctoring, these all create walls between learners and teachers.

Working flexibly from home

Using Teams meant that connecting with colleagues was easy, and facilitated collaboration without the disruption of shared offices. Really enjoyed combining work and home spaces.

Being able to run our PGCAP fully online

Some staff found it harder to engage with the PGCAP because they were busy responding to the pivot online. While this was a useful developmental opportunity in its own right, it's a shame that a number of staff were not always able to prioritise their own professional development. Hopefully the online nature of the programme makes it somewhat easier to catch up and keep in touch!
