First, I was drawn to this film by Enzo's review - condoms and football??! When the music started, already I was being entertained because I think there is no better joyful music than that of Africa in all it's varieties and beats. These boys just want to have fun in the form of football and will go to any length to make sure they have it, even if it means having to make a ball out of whatever there is available. Good for them! I also think it's a positive commentary on Mozambique men, in that this father cared about having safe sex and was angry that his son had taken his condoms. But I'm sure that it's about criticising the issues happening in Mozambique, where the film is created. The supply of condoms in Mozambique is not enough, but are used for the children to make footballs. And I don't think it's just the issue caused by the children. If they could have real footballs, they wouldn't have to use condoms to make those. So, I think they are showing the similarity of condom and football by telling that the supplies of both are not enough in Mozambique.
