Once at Gotemba station, take a bus to Subashiri 5th station, the gateway to climbing Mount Fuji. The bus operated by Fujikyu to reach the Gotemba climbing route. A one-way bus journey is about an hour long, at the cost of 1.540 yen (round trips are 2.060 yen).

Please note that Fujikyu is not part of the Japan Rail Group, which means the Japan Rail Pass does not cover buses ran by this company, and no seat reservations are available.

2. Chureito Pagoda and Arakura Sengen Shrine:
Once you arrive at your chosen station, head to the iconic Chureito Pagoda. This pagoda offers one of the best views of Mount Fuji, especially during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and autumn when the surrounding trees change colors. It's a relatively short hike uphill to reach the pagoda, but the view is well worth the effort.

3. Lake Kawaguchi:
Next, head to Lake Kawaguchi, one of the famous Fuji Five Lakes. You can take a local bus or taxi to get there. Lake Kawaguchi is a beautiful spot to enjoy the scenic views of Mount Fuji reflected on the water. You can stroll along the lakeshore, rent a paddleboat, or take a sightseeing cruise to get closer to the lake and the mountain.

4. Oishi Park:
Within walking distance from Lake Kawaguchi, you'll find Oishi Park, a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature. The park offers picturesque views of Mount Fuji over colorful flower fields (seasonal). It's a great spot for a picnic or simply taking in the beautiful surroundings.

5. Lunch:
There are plenty of dining options around Lake Kawaguchi and Oishi Park. Try some local specialties like Hoto (thick flat noodles in miso soup) or other delicious Japanese dishes.

6. Lake Saiko:
After lunch, make your way to Lake Saiko, another one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Lake Saiko is known for its clear water and serene atmosphere. You can take a leisurely walk around the lake or rent a rowboat to explore the waters.

7. Fujikawaguchiko Natural Living Center:
This center provides a peaceful and educational environment with exhibitions on the natural and cultural history of the Mount Fuji region. You can also enjoy a cup of local green tea while taking in the views of the surrounding landscape.

8. Return to Tokyo:
After a full day of exploring, it's time to head back to Tokyo. Take a train from the nearest station back to Tokyo Station.

Afternoon:

4. Hiroshima Castle: After the emotional visit to the Peace Memorial Park, take a leisurely stroll to Hiroshima Castle (Hiroshima-jō). The castle has been reconstructed and houses a museum with exhibits on Hiroshima's history and culture. The castle's grounds offer beautiful views of the city.

Evening:

6. Miyajima Island: Take a short train ride to Miyajimaguchi and catch a ferry to Miyajima Island (Itsukushima). This beautiful island is known for its iconic "floating" torii gate at the Itsukushima Shrine, which appears to be floating on water during high tide. 8. Return to Hiroshima: Head back to Hiroshima from Miyajima Island by ferry and train.

11. Head back home: If you took the Shinkansen from Kyoto, the last trains to Tokyo typically depart in the late evening, so you should have enough time to catch a return train.
