This shows that even at a young age, kids love music regardless of the lyrics.

2012 was the most important year for me because One Direction released music and I was OBSESSED with them and everything was One Direction themed. I still listen to One Direction lol. I was struggling with body image at the time and this song made me feel secure and valid about my feelings. I believe that these songs make a positive impact on teens and should be always welcomed.

This was the year that I had my first "boyfriend" and I listened to this song all the time. It's about being infatuated with a guy and him being on your mind all the time. Looking back at this now, I was definitely not in love but at the time this song made me feel happy. In my classroom, I want to include different forms of literacy that makes my students feel happy and accepted.

This song was very impactful on me during this year because my grandfather passed in 2014. It helped me cope with my feelings and get through the hard time. I want to teach my students that music can help with big feelings that they may be experiencing and it's okay to express them. It's important to teach them that it's normal to be sad and upset sometimes and there are forms of literacy that can help them feel better whether that be a book, movie, music, etc.

I love this song for many reasons but one is because it talks about following your heart even though it might not work out and to trust yourself. I think it's important to teach students this lesson and to believe in themselves, even if it doesn't work out, at least you tried your best. I feel that sometimes there is too much pressure on students to do perfect but that is not realistic and we all make mistakes.

The message of this song deeply connects to me from things that I went through in my life. It is a beautiful song with such intense vocals and I feel that everyone needs to listen to it at least once. I want to encourage my students in the future to find literacy that they deeply connect with. Once you find something you really enjoy, it makes it more interesting to discover similar things.

This world always needs more kindness and being kind is good for yourself and other people. I will center my classroom about treating people with kindness and show my students that there are many forms of literacy that can boost their mood.

Blue World is about the world being a depressing and "blue" place. The reason why I chose this song for 2020 is because Covid-19 caused a lot of depression and anxiety among people and it was a hard time for many. The song continues with explaining that we don't have to let the sadness in and we can stay positive, which I think was a good lesson for 2020. In my class, I want to teach my students that sometimes situations can be hard but we can stay positive and get through it together.

This song is very meaningful to me because in 2021 I met my boyfriend which I am still currently dating. It talks about being in love with someone and how everything you do is affected by them. I realized that a lot of literacy that I engage with conveys important meaning and I can learn a lot about myself and relationships that I have with other people through music or writing or reading. I find it fascinating that we can put feelings into words and someone else can read that and feel the same emotion.

I recently saw this movie and all of the songs are amazing but All Of You stuck out to me. It talks about how people are more than their "gift". I connected with this song a lot because I remember being in speech classes and I had trouble with reading so I was in the "lower" class and I felt left out. My self-esteem was low. I think we should appreciate all students regardless of their academic level and support them in all ways possible.
