(EX) Hitler wanted Sudetenland to be a part of his "Greater Germany" as he claimed that the Germans in Sudetenland were treated badly in Czechoslovakia. However, the Czech government would not give in to Germany as it contained heavy industries, weapons, barriers and barriers that protected Czechoslovakia. Moreover, Czechs had modern army and they were  emboldened to resist Germany as the Allies promised to support the Czech when attacked. However, due to the policy of appeasement, the Allies signed the Munich Agreement without consulting the Czechs and Soviets who were in an mutual alliance.

This enabled Hitler to militarize and became more aggressive. (EX) Britain and France was weak from WWI and impact of Great Depression and needed to rebuild their economy and military strength because they lost a lot of manpower and arms while fighting Germany in World War 1. Impact of Great Depression also meant they focused on rebuilding their economy rather than spend on the military.

(EX) By the Munich Agreement, they knew that though the French army was strong that it was weak in some vital spots and that both the military of the French and British were in no position to enter another war against a large military power like Nazi Germany. The USA was going through an isolationist policy and didn’t want to interfere in affairs of European countries and would thus be of no help for Britain and France against Germany  despite them being the main world superpower.

(EX) Hitler had proven to be an effective force against Communism through the 1937 involvement in the Spanish Civil War. Hitler sent resources such as arms and manpower in the form of soldiers to support the Spanish Nationalists against the Soviet-supported Spanish Republicans. German planes, the Luftwaffe, made raids on Spanish cities like Guernica which eventually led to the defeat of the Soviet-supported Spanish Republican forces, proving themselves to be an effective force against Communism.

(EX) The European countries were still devastated by the after effects of WW1 and they needed more time to rearm themselves in preparation for another war. Great Depression in 1929 also crippled Europe's economy which greatly reduced their funds available to sustain a war or invasion for military expenditure.
