- Pelagic Eggs
Eggs that float, usually seen in marine fishes

- Demersal Eggs
Eggs that sink. They are heavier than water, usually seen in the freshwater and the eggs are laid directly on the bottom of the sea or placed in nets, rocks or even the fish itself.

Occurs the egg is laid outside (externally) . The egg would have a protective case to protect the egg. The baby would take in the nutrients from the yolk sac instead of the mother which cause the fry to be smaller in size due to limited nutrients

A primitive placenta connection formed from the ovarian follicle that is found in some animals. The ovarian follicle acquire an elaborate network of capillaries that extend out as villiand make association with the surface of the developing embryos

- Branchialplacenta
A more efficient pseudoplacenta, the ovary forms an highly vascularized folds that make contact with the gills of the developing embryos.

There are many ways for farmers to breed a koi commercially but the main way would be dry fertilization using hand stripping. Farmers tend to use this method because koi tend to eat their own egg and fry thus in order to avoid situations like this, farmers tend to use hand stripping methods. How they do it is that they will hold the female and gently massaged from anterior where the egg will flow freely then they will pick up a male and squeeze the sperm directly to the bowl of egg to fertilize it.

This alvein will also attach to the side of the walls seeking shelter and after a few more days they become fry and learn how to swim. This is where they require feeding and progressively, they become fingerlings and juveniles an adult fish and finally a spawning adult, where the cycle starts again and female kois will lay thousands of eggs on the substrate and the male will fertilise it externally.
