  • Students are also loving the activities and they are also engaged in class during that period

    1. The limited number of storybooks for the Read up program makes it difficult for them to focus on the what is being read and it becomes difficult to concentrate

  • The workbook time. Kids love completing the workbook. Even the kids who don't love reading enjoy that

  • Only 4 copies of read aloud books provided. Becomes difficult to hold onto children's attention while read aloud

  • The Joy of Reading library has been really useful in my class. Students are engaged in the books and often read in pairs or triads, helping each other out while reading.

  • One challenge I face is that since I don’t have a projector/TV in my class, I can’t show the book to the students during a ReadUp session and then the students just have 1 copy between 7-8 kids and they tend to fight over it 😅

They attempt to read and make mistakes while reading, yet they are consistent with wanting to read for joy and that is lovely progress in them. The limited number of books is a bit of a hurdle, rest all is great!

    Kids enjoy while we do the ReadUp in classroom, they are super excited to start with a new story or knowing what will happen next in the story everytime.

    Something which is not working would be less number of ReadUp books for kids and this becomes a little distracting in class.

    What I do is I use only one book and show them what's happening in the story to have visual connection and build imagination.


    Children are really enjoying the activities.

  • Students are now getting to read just for the joy of reading. There's has been growth in student engagement in reading.

  • Since the activity books are not reading grade level based, peer help/ buddy system is what helps us (where everyone in the group helps each other while engaging with activity books).

    I find it difficult to say no to the student's for reading the book because their bright eyes filled with sparkle once their hear the word story makes me hopeful.
