         <description><![CDATA[<div>I had chosen to be a neuron in the brain very long ago, but I still do not regret that choice today. Being a brain cell is very important! I <strong>send and receive electrical and chemical signals</strong>. The group of us here are building blocks of your brain, and transmit information to other neurons, muscles, and tissues throughout the body. They allow our human owner to think, feel, move, and comprehend the world around him/her.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>On another note, we don’t really need to exercise all that much, like those white blood cells who have to be fighting every single hour of the day, or those muscles having to stretch and contract A LOT every day.</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>Come join us here in the very top of the entire body! We’re waiting for you! I hope we have convinced you to come join us as a neuron in the brain!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello there, little cell! Do you know what cell you want to be? Of course, you should be a neural cell. Neural cells are the best type of cells to become! Who wants to be a red blood cell? There are already so many of them around! No one likes muscle fibers, they can only retract. Neuron cells can carry messages through your body with electricity. We have highly specialised dendrites and axons to communicate with each other and even other cells! Our axons are really long and can stretch through the neck  of a giraffe! Each dendrite can even receive signals from other neurons and one neuron can receive thousands of impulses at once. With you, our messages will get sent even faster! So, little cell, what cell will you become?</div>]]></description>

I am very important to the body as I help supply other body parts with oxygen, minerals and water! To do this, I am flexible and assume a bell shape as I need to pass through extremely small blood vessels. Isn't this cool? If you become like me, you can be flexible and travel to the most obscure parts to the body!</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div>In addition, I never have to feel alone because there are millions of red blood cells that work together with me.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi, new cell! I see you're very excited to become a specialised cell. But which one to become? Let me give you some advice, be a neural cell just like me! We're the brainiest of the lot. What do you say about that, huh? Now, I'm going to tell you what it will feel like.<br><br></div><div>Neural cells have lots and lots of dendrites, which can receive or send electrical impulses encoding information. Doesn't it look fun to have so many long arms? Those long bits that come out of the "body" are axons, and the dendrites are connected to the axons. Now, do you see some larger pieces at the back which look stuck together? Those are the myelin sheaths which cover the axon.<br><br>The sheath insulates the axon and prevents the electrical impulse from leaking out, increasing the rate of transmission. Doesn't it feel cool to be able to zap impulses to other cells so quickly? Zap! Zap! Zap! Ha!<br><br>The red bit in the middle is the nucleus. I expect you know what nuclei do, right? You don't? Okay. They control the processes of the cell and contain the DNA of the cell. Don't tell me you don't know what DNA does. Oh no... Fine. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the genetic information for what each cell should look like, do, and basically everything.<br><br>Once again, I hope you will become a neural cell like me. We are generally round and flexible. Now, our master needs us. Usually, we patrol around in the bloodstream, but once we hear the warning from affected cells, we immediately race to the battlefield, where we would unleash our full fury on the invaders. We would gobble all the invaders up. Leukocytes have a similar structure to the normal animal cells. Phagocytes have a wonky-shaped nucleus while a lymphocyte has a round one.&nbsp;</div><div>It is very important to be a leukocyte.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Hello embryonic cell!<br><br>I hear you will be going through differentiation to be a specialised cell soon!<br>I am a red blood cell, and I am here to convince you to change into one!<br>The job of the red blood cell is to transport oxygen from the lungs to the rest if the cells in the body, as well as transporting carbon dioxide from the cells to the lungs. They are able to do so because they contain a protein called haemoglobin, which is red. This causes all of us to be red.<br>Each red blood cell contains 250 million molecules of haemogobin, which maximises the ability to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide. Red blood cells are thinner in the center than at the edges. This shape increases the surface area, enhancing the rate of diffusion of oxygen across the plasma membrane. Almost all of the world's animals need blood, so therefore this role is very important. <br>Over time, the red blood cells eventually die. The<strong>&nbsp;average</strong> lifespan of a red blood cell is 120 days. That's 1/3 of a year!<br><br>I hope I could convince you to become a red blood cell.&nbsp;<br>Best of luck! Oxygen turns into energy, which keeps the body healthy. Red blood cells also transport carbon dioxide from the cells to the lungs.<br><br>Embryonic cell become progenitors cell, which develops surface receptors for a specific stimulating factor. The cell loses its potency and becomes committed to a certain cell type. Production of red blood cells is stimulated by erythropoietin, EPO. The cell reduces in size, increase, and start making haemoglobin and lose their nucleus.<br><br>It is important for the embryonic cell to become like me as red blood cells, as explained above, are important to the body.</div>]]></description>

Okay!&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br></div><div><br>I am a Cytotoxic T Cell. Cytotoxic T Cells are the special forces of the body! We kill target cells which are cancer cells, cells that are infected by intracellular pathogens (such as viruses or bacteria), or cells that are damaged in other ways directly by inducing apoptosis, which is the programmed killing of the target cell. They release preformed perforins at the target cell surface to generate transmembrane pores that allow entry of foreign substances in the target cell, through which a second set of proteins and granzymes gain entry into the cytosol to initiate an apoptotic series of events (killing the cell).<br><br></div><div><br>Although I have cytoplasm, a nucleus, mitochondria, golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum like an animal cell,&nbsp; I do not have a lysosome, a ribosome or a peroxisome.<br><br></div><div><br>This job is very important to this body because we are part of the immune system, which protects the body from invaders, so it is imperative that you become a Cytotoxic T cell.<br><br></div><div><br>I hope that I see you again as a Cytotoxic T cell!<br><br></div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

I went up to one timid embryonic cell and said, “What cell do you want to be after the cell differentiation?” The cell stammered, “I…I don’t know. Wh…What cell should I be?” “Hmm, what do you really want to do?” I asked curiously. The cell replied, “Oh, Oh! I read of the concept of neuron sending messages using electric signals and I like that a lot!” ”Aha! Then you will like being a neuron!” I said. “Yes, I would love to…But what is the function of it?” The embryonic cell asked, confused. “Let me explain,” I said. “The neuron is part of the brain that sends and receives electrical and chemical signals. They allow the user to do everyday activities.” “Oh! So that means I help the user to walk or run?” the embryonic cell said. “That’s right!” I replied. “That sounds great! I provide a protective barrier against mechanical, thermal and physical injury and hazardous substances. I prevent loss of moisture and acts as a sensory organ. The skin is the largest organ in the human body!&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>The skin structure is made of 3 parts. The top layer is the epidermis, 2nd layer is the dermis and last layer is subcutaneous tissue. Epidermis protects the body from the outside world, keeping the skin hydrated, producing new skin cells and determining the skin color. Dermis protects the body from harm, supporting the epidermis, feeling different sensations and producing sweat and hair. I have an explanation on why you should become a white blood cell, like me!<br>&nbsp; A white blood cell, or granulocyte, is a very important cell when it comes to protecting the human body from harmful viruses and bacteria.<br>&nbsp; A white blood cell is part of the human immune system. When an embryo becomes a white blood cell, it will go to the bone marrow, a part of the human body, to go through the process of differentiation, which will last about 2 days.<br>  White blood cells fight off unwanted bacteria and viruses which may cause infection, and harm the human body we are in. That is why being a white blood cell is important!</div>]]></description>

Well, why don't you become a neural cell like me?<br><br>We neurons are made for carrying "messages" throughout the body! We can communicate with each other, and even with other types of cells!&nbsp;<br><br>We do that using our axons and dendrites which transmit electrical impulses.&nbsp;<br><br>Our dendrites are useful to us as each dendrite can receive signals from other neurons. This means that one neuron can receive thousands of impulses at once.<br>Now, that might sound overwhelming but as you'll be trained for this, you'll get the hang of it.<br><br>In larger animals, our axons can be very long so as to communicate with distant parts of the body.<br><br>Now, this is the best part.<br><br>There is something called the myelin sheath that covers our axons. The sheath insulates our axons and makes the electrical impulses we send "jump", increasing the speed of the impulses' transmission. The process of spreading across the surface of a damaged blood vessel to stop bleeding is called adhesion.&nbsp; Oh, did I mention? When we reach the damaged blood vessels, we grow tentacles, making us resemble a spider or octopus.<br><br>In the process of making the clot, we also send out chemical signals to attract more of us.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi, embryonic cell! I am a red blood cell and my scientific name is erythrocyte.</div><div>I am small, round and biconcave. I play a vital role in the circulatory system as I contain haemoglobin which helps to carry oxygen from the lungs or gills to all the body tissues and to carry carbon dioxide to the lungs, where it is excreted. Without red blood cells like me, humans will no longer be able to breathe.</div><div>A special adaptation of mine is that I do not have a nucleus, because it allows me to have more haemoglobin, hence allowing me to contain more oxygen. This special function that I have also results in my biconcave structure which helps in diffusion of dissolved nutrients, oxygen and carbon dioxide.&nbsp;</div><div>It is important that you become like me so that together, we can help humans work in the circulatory system. After reading this, I hope you are more willing and will consider to become a red blood cell, just like me.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
