The best instance of situational irony with inside the play is Oedipus looking to keep away from the prophecy that he'll kill his father and have sex with his biological mother. In his try to avoid the obstacle (the prophecy) he ends up tripping (messing up because of his hubristic trait) results in him falling face first into killing his father and having sex with his mother.
