During the Crusades, many knights and other soldiers were sent off to war to capture the holy city of Jerusalem. Due to all knights invading the foreign territory, there were not many knights and soldiers that were able to defend the land. These invasions also led to the immediate death of knights. Without the knights, there were fewer people enforcing policies, specifically regarding the manor system.

Long-Term Impacts/Effects: Kings and other noble families were able to gain power throughout the Crusades. This led to an increased influence on foreign policy throughout the world. With the Crusades, there was a break down from the ideas of feudalism when nobles and other members of the high class would die. Long-Term Impacts/Effects: The Europeans learned many new ideas from the Muslims. The Crusades provided a rebirth of European culture in society.
