I am so delighted that you are my teacher to improve my English proficiency. Now, I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you.

My name is Meijin Li. I come from Beijing, the capital of China. In fact, I started learning English since I was in primary school. I still have no confidence about my English, although I have learnt this language about 12 years. During my undergraduate studies, I both majored in Computer Software and minored in accounting, because inter-disciplinary talents are high in demanded by employers today and I want to improve myself by learning the integration of knowledge. 

When it comes to what I want to study and achieve in pre-sessional course, I aim to develop a variety of language skills especially writing and speaking. It is important to have language environment to using English every day, so I plan to have more communication with local people, teachers and classmates although sometimes I cannot express clearly and don’t understand some vocabularies. Reading books and documents can also be a good way to improve my academic English. For example, you teach us the structure of articles, academic vocabularies and grammar, which can be used in my essay. Given that my future plan is to study there, it’s sure that the priority is to pass exam. I would be grateful if you could give us some advice to improve our writing skills, speaking ability and so on. I hope that the pre-sessional courses can provide a firm grounding for our study and life in Bristol.

I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you. My name is Liu Kan and my major is accounting, finance & management. When I was an undergraduate, my major is accounting. When it comes to how I study during this period, usually I took notes in class and tried to remember what professors said. Sometimes we had homework to do. If there was no homework left I would spend a short time to review the knowledge learned that day. With regard to English, enlarging vocabulary and remembering important sentences are the main way for me to learn it. After 4 years learning I got a good GPA of accounting courses but still felt worried about English.

 

When referring to future learning, I’d like to say I need your help very much. On one hand, I want more communications in class to make progress on listening and speaking, which are basic skills while I am not good at. On the other hand, please show us more writing skills, especially academic writing, because there are many important essays I had to finish in the near future but I don’t know how to formulate their structures and express my viewpoints clearly. What’s more, I would be greatly appreciated if you can give us suggestions about when and how to make preparations for the dissertation.

I am writing this letter to introduce myself to you. My name is Xin Sun and my hometown is Yan Tai. In the past four years, I studied at the university of Jinan and majored in Applied Chemistry. I think I was born with the ability to learn chemistry but English. It can be illustrated with the example of my learning experience. The first-class scholarships achieved systematically in every semester awarded by university as well as government and some enterprises were strong proof for my good academic performance. However, I took the IELTS three times before I reached the standard of 6-week pre-sessional English course. Although it is a little bit difficult for me to study English, I have lots of confidence to improve it dramatically. Here are some my aims in the future.

First and foremost, I will build positive attitude towards my English study, because more positive attitude means more efforts, which is able to encourage me to spare no effort to study it well. In addition, I will attach more importance to improve my speaking skills. The reason is that I applied for MSc by research at university of bristol so that I need to communicate with my partners more. Last but not least, good writing skill is also important for me to gain, especially academic writing skill, which is able to assist me to write a high quality thesis. Because I plan to publish some papers in peer-reviewed journals. All in all, I am really keen on improving my English as well as mastering some skills via pre-sessional course, which enables me to laid a solid foundation for my future study. My name is Ma Mokun. It is a great honor to have the opportunity to introduce my learning &working experience and future plan in the university of Bristol.

When I was an undergraduate student, my university is located in Shanghai and my major is accounting. I love this major since it is the perfect combination of logical and art. During that time I found countless stories of different companies according to their financial statements, it is really interesting. I clearly understood that learning accounting and finance theories only was far from enough. Theories must be combined with practices. Therefore, after graduating from college, I got a job in Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC). At the very beginning, I worked as a teller and premier relationship assistant. And then, I changed my position to the risk department, specializing in financial risk management. Thanks to the two-year work experience, I acquired basic practical knowledge on bank products structures, risk control, etc, and strengthened my critical and logical thinking. 

However, it is also the working experience make me realize my lack of knowledge of economy and finance. Luckily, the program Economy, finance and accounting is just the one I want. I also want to show my deep gratitude to UOB since it offers us the pre-sessional class and the wonderful programs. During the first 6 weeks, I hope my academy English can take giant leaps forward and pass the final examination. And during the following one year, I am looking forward to getting a degree, making academic progress, expending my horizon, and so forth.

My name is PAN Ling. During the past four years, I have been studying the psychology related programme at Beijing Sports University. Meanwhile, I am also trying to improve my actual skills on counselling. Since June 2013, I have got a part time position at Peter KK Lee Care for Life Hotline for College Students in Tsinghua University. After my undergraduate studying, I found that my current knowledge and qualifications are not enough for me to pursue a career I dreamt of. Hence, I decided to take a postgraduate degree at UK.

When it comes to my future English study, the most important thing is learning more about British culture. For example, how do people usually chat in the UK ? how they write academic papers? and what topics are the locals most concerned about? I think British culture is different from Chinese culture. I want to learn more British culture and realize cultural barriers.

I am Song Kunpeng who comes from Henan province,China. I am delighted that you are my English teacher to help improve my English ability. You can call me Song. I graduated from Zhengzhou University, China, and achieved the bachelor degree in 2015. During the undergraduate study, I won two "national inspirational scholarship", and won the "three good student" for many times. Instead of focusing my attention on the studies of professional courses in university, I also made considerable efforts in social practice. I am working in Shanghai Hangan Information Technology Co.Ltd for computer information security from August 2016 to May 2017.After I graduated from Zhengzhou University, I started to learn IELTS. During one year in learning IELTS, I experienced four exams. Due to the weak foundation in English, I almost studied every day and summarized the failure.

Now, when it comes to what I want to study in English. I hope that I can have improved in listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially listening and speaking. During the pre-sessional course, I must listen and speak more and more. It is a best way to improve my English language ability and integrated into the local life quickly. I should consolidate the foundation in the first place, which is the basic in finishing school. I am longing for equipping myself with more advanced knowledge and practical skills in the next year. After getting the master’s degree, I intend to continue to study for a doctor’s degree to get a deep. Upon graduation, I would try to grasp every opportunity to seek a relevant job at to accumulate experience; in the long run, I plan to come back to China to be a communication teacher in a university or a communication worker in a large enterprise.
