1. BG 1 How can I design interdisciplinary projects that connect language learning with the scientific method 2. BG2 Which critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for my students, and how can the scientific method help develop these skills alongside language proficiency? 3. BG 3 How can I collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to create cohesive STEAM learning experiences for my students? 4. BG-4 What language learning/teaching methodologies or frameworks do you think would work best to plan STEAM lessons? 5. BG-5 How can those projects (lessons, experiences) be properly assessed/tested before implementing them? The scientific method—which includes forming hypotheses, testing through experimentation, and drawing conclusions—can be aligned with CEFR to enhance language learning in an academic context. For example:At the A1-A2 level, students can start by describing simple scientific concepts or processes in their target language, such as identifying parts of an experiment.

The way to test/assess could be through feedback, doing a pilot program, having control groups of students or doing projects. Also piloting the projects with a small group of students to identify any gaps or challenges. We can use formative assessments, like quizzes or reflections, to gauge understanding during the process.
Also, we can collaborate with other teachers to get feedback on the content. Ensure that assessments cover both the language objectives and STEAM outcomes, evaluating skills like communication, problem-solving, and the application of the scientific method.
It is important to use rubrics that assess both language use (accuracy, fluency, vocabulary) and STEAM-related skills (critical thinking, creativity, and technical knowledge). This ensures that the project aligns with both language and content goals.
