Question:Although these laws are in play, does it mean schools have to provide all the resources for the particular child with the disability or does the parent depending on the child's need?

I would say these laws mandate all schools to consider the implementation of assistive technologies and services to their students, but how they supply these resources is dependent on the child's level of need. Not all resources have to be provided - just enough for the child to be sufficiently supported and able to perform satisfactorily in the classroom. -Mariah Menendez

It is mandated that the schools provide ALL assistive technology a student has been identified to need. In many incidents, this is just enough for the student to perform satisfactorily in their classroom and can be out of date or difficult to use in comparison to the new updated version. In some cases, if the family can afford it they can provide the newer version if they see fit, but is not necessary for the student to learn in their classroom. - Lauren Farr

Legally, schools are required to provide all AT for students who need it according to their IEP. Harley made a good point that schools are not required to provide the most updated AT. The reality is often different than what is on paper or required by the law due to limited funding or poor management in schools.

Yes, the schools have the right to indicate what assistive technology/ resources will benefit the student more even if the parent disagrees.
