I enjoy reading fiction because of how all the books are set up (scene), and how the story isn't real, so you have an active imagination. A book, has to have some type of action or mystery/ crime because I find it more interesting to read in between the lines of what happens during the book. The name of my independent reading book is The Scorch Trials and so far it's good because of how they set up the beginning of the story and how it left off from the end of Maze Runner when they just discovered their way out of the maze into leading into the after life of what happens.

So far, after the Maze Runner, all the people that survived are now trying to find out what happens now after they have lived through the maze. The book is taking place in the present and I predict that everyone who survived will try to go back and find their families but realized the world has changed and that they have to go through another obstacle like the maze, hence the title "The Scorch Trials". If I was the director of this movie, I would film it in Egypt (the end of the movie of Maze Runner showed them getting out of Egypt).

My favorite character so far in the book is Thomas because of how adventurous and risk taking he is. My least favorite character is Theresa because of how she doesn't believe in things that easily (about how they end up where they are and what their life choices are). If I could go to dinner with one of my characters, it would be Thomas and I would ask him about his experiences and how it felt to be stuck in a maze and now finding some of the Gladers dead. Since this book has been made to a movie, I would choose to keep Dylan O'Brien as Thomas.

I usually look for characters that have issues so they have to resolve it and look for certain things in order to fix their problems, like in Maze Runner, Thomas has to look for his way out of the Maze in order to live a better life and find his family. I think the characters in this book will find their way home and find their families eventually even though everything is gone. I feel like some of the characters will be worried about where their families are but at the same time they will be worried about how they live and just go wherever it is safe.

I would rate my book as a a 9 because it was really adventurous and I like how the story was set up, continuing from the Maze Runner. I would describe it as an adventure book and suspense maybe. I was kind of surprised about how it ended and I can't wait to start reading the next book. This book meets my criteria because of how the whole plot was set up.
