The North York Harvest Food Bank runs many programs and services to supply food to those in need. They partner with many different companies to create accessible, kind, and friendly food spaces for their clients. In these food spaces, not only do they provide food, but volunteers and staff also create a lively environment for clients to interact with, and partake in "food skill-building activities" with each other.

The food bank has given out a whopping 2.3 million pounds of food to people in need.

Not only do the citizens benefit from this organization, but the employees do as well, such as learning new skills. At the food banks, volunteers lead activities to help citizens cook, to build a budget, to handle food safer, and more. To teach these topics, you must first learn them, therefore educating the staff as well.

Another benefit volunteers receive is an improvement on their resumé. In an increasingly competitive society, jobs are getting harder and harder to find. If companies see that you have done volunteer work in the past at a food bank, you already have a better chance of getting hired.

A few other benefits include making new friends, staying physically fit, minimizing stress, and last but not least, making a difference. This can fill anybody with a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that you helped people in need.
