         <description><![CDATA[<div>Escola Valdelors is a school located in the town of Vandellòs, in the Baix Camp region (Tarragona). It is a rural area and there are students from different years in each classroom. At school we work through learning communities and the groups are the following:<br>- Kindergarten: P3, P4 and P5.<br>- 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade.<br>- 4th, 5th and 6th Grade.<br><br>It is a participatory and active center that encourages and enhances group interrelationships.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Reflection after the implementation</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Planning and teaching a CLIL unit about Romans and Celts for 5<sup>th</sup> and 6<sup>th</sup> Grade has been an amazing experience. The unit aimed at combining history with language teaching, which enabled students to understand different cultures of the two ancient civilizations as well as improving their language abilities. This reflection will look at some of the key aspects that were considered during the implementation.<br><br>Firstly, there was careful consideration in selecting content that was aligned to their curriculum; it had to be also age-appropriate and cognitively suitable. The objectives were developed in a manner that included historical knowledge on Romans and Celts as well as language goals.<br><br>There were various tasks covering vocabulary related to Roman and Celtic culture. Present continuous, present simple, use of different verbs… are used for grammar structure practice. Moreover, the following approaches were applied:<br><br>- Use of diverse instructional modes (verbal/non-verbal/written/visual/audiovisual) for accommodating all types of learners’ styles and preferences.<br><br>- Collaborative learning through group work or pairs where students took up different roles.</p><p>- Provision of language support to scaffold student understanding and facilitate comprehension.</p><p>- Inclusion of technology in learning is unavoidable. Our students have used tablets, computers or any other form of technology. This technology can boost student motivation and engagement.</p><p>- The different tasks help students develop their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.</p><p><br/></p><p>To sum up, we can say the outcomes of conducting this Romans and Celts unit were positive. They showed an improved understanding of historical content as well as expressing themselves in English. We have acquired significant experience from our teaching profession including theory application in actual classroom situations.</p>]]></description>
