         <description><![CDATA[<div>This graphic from <em>The Economist</em> shows the political status of countries throughout the Middle East as of January 2016.  While outdated, not much has happened for improvement in this area.  The goal of the Arab Spring of 2011 was to make the region more democratic, yet it largely failed.  The only country that currently is a free democracy is Tunisia; the rest are either autocratic or in a state of perpetual war.  Egypt is ruled by an oppressive autocratic leader that is marked by fake elections.</div>]]></description>

However, after roughly two years of his Presidency, he tried to undermine the public and become an all powerful dictator.  People rebelled, and in 2013 he was removed and arrested.  Here, Morsi is in jail awaiting his sentence in late 2017.</div>]]></description>
