This paper poses and answers a number of critical questions about the relationship
between migration and entrepreneurship in the process of economic development.
In doing so, we show that the standard policy response to migrants and migrant
entrepreneurs are often based on an inadequate understanding of migrant entrepreneurs.
The questions we pose are the following: (i) Are immigrants really more entrepreneurial
than natives? (ii) Are migrant remittances likely to fund entrepreneurship in their home
countries? (iii) Are return migrants more likely to be entrepreneurial than non-migrants?
And finally, based on the answers, (iv) Does migration matter for development? We
conclude that one must avoid seeing migrants as super-entrepreneurs and that the
(positive) developmental impact of migration is more significant through other channels.
Removal of discriminatory barriers against migrants and against migrant entrepreneurs in
labour, consumer and financial markets will promote development in both sending and
receiving countries, not least through reducing the shares of migrants that are reluctant

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0dVfDiSrFo
When discussing the topic of immigration and development, the best case study one can put forward is of course "the nation of immigrants." Beginning from its founding by immigrants till now the topic of immigration has always been at the forefront of social, political and economic discussions in the US. This brief CNBC explainer discusses the impact of immigration on the host country's economic development taking America as a case study. Some of the key points the presenter raises are:

An extra 1% increase in a country's migrant population adds on a 2% GDP per capita in the long term

Migration is a risk that causes many migrants to be entrepreneurial.

Both high and low skilled migrants contribute to increased productivity

HBR: Why Immigrants Are More Likely to Become Entrepreneurs?

Resonating with and adding to the infographic shared by Kena, businesses started by immigrants are a lot! In the US where the immigrant population is 13.7%, the start-ups started by immigrants are 25% and a whopping 55% of the US-based unicorns were founded or co-founded by an immigrant. Furthermore, if you are vaccinated with Pfizer, BioNTech or Moderna - you have an immigrant entrepreneur to be grateful to since all three companies were founded or co-founded by one.
The Harvard Business Review short article sheds more light as to why immigrants are more likely to start a business than the native population. Similarly to the paper in review, the article also calls for policies and regulations the implications of which are aimed at fostering the positive impact of immigrants on entrepreneurship.

In each episode, they explain more in detail about the process, funding, and barriers to being an entrepreneur in European Union. This initiative is to facilitate better integration to all the migrants coming to Europe, specifically refugees. Therefore, they created this business program founded in the Netherlands.

This entrepreneurial program to migrants is a good way of learning how to be autonomous in a foreign country even if they do not start their own business. They are going to develop an entrepreneurial mindset that will help them in different aspects of their lives.

This Economist video explores the remarkable benefits that a shift in migration policy would have in both the migrant’s origin and destination country. It is estimated that the world's GDP would be roughly double in somewhere between 50 and 150 percent bigger every year if people were allowed to work where they wanted. In addition to income growth (mainly though remittances), the video also argues for the creation of trade ties, technology transfer and the investment links that migration allows. Worth a view.
