         <description><![CDATA[<div>An engineered canal that linked the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean by crossing a narrow land bridge in Panama. It started with the French in the 1880’s, then purchased by the US, then it was purchased once more and was completed in 1914. Over sixty years afterwards, the U.S. owned and ran the Canal, which most large shipping trade's were passed through. </div>]]></description>
