· History of agency: This agency was founded in 1991 and is locally organized and funded.

· Location and environment: This agency has two locations, one in Port Saint Lucie and one in Stuart, Florida. The PSL location is open Monday through Friday opening at 9 am in the morning, except on Tuesdays. The Stuart location is Monday through Thursday with varied times they open. However, they additionally have a hotline that has a representative available 24/7.

· Programs and services: The provide many free and confidential services. They provide: pregnancy tests, pregnancy confirmation ultrasounds, pregnancy counseling, educational classes, infant supplies, post abortion support, STD/STI awareness, some limited medical services, and community referrals.

· Eligibility requirements, fees: Any individual in need of services is eligible to receive them. A valid identification is preferred, but not required. This agency does not require an individual to have insurance or any financial means. All of their services are free of charge.

· Public relations and marketing: Considering that this is a local agency marketing includes word of mouth and local advertising. A Facebook support page and local advertisements can be found.

· Relationships to other agencies within the community: So this specific agency does not provide abortion services. If an individual is seeking an abortion they provide referrals to other healthcare agencies, such as OB-GYN offices, in the community.

· Projected needs of agency: Given that this is a local agency that provides services free of charge their biggest need is funding. Their second need expressed is exposure. There are other, more known agencies, around the area that through their funding and public relation resources get more business.

· Utilization of services by people in the community: This agency reported that most of their patients are first time parents who mostly seem to be teenagers that do not have support or are low-income.

Roles of the nurses within the agency include taking vital signs and performing simple procedures such as pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. A major component of the nurse’s role is education; whether it is for first time mothers or an individual who needs support and guidance after an abortion the nurse’s knowledge is vast and thorough.

Care Net Pregnancy could be utilized better by the population of focus by helping individuals who seek their services post-abortion get educated prior to making that decision. A lot of young women who use their abortion support assistance verbalize feelings of regret and lack of education as to what their options were.

History of the agency: JMJ Pregnancy Center was founded on March 16, 1990 by two Catholic women, Ann Droletand Frances Murray, who wanted to devote their lives to help women and families facing unexpected pregnancies in central Florida.

Location and environment: JMJ Pregnancy Center has two locations in central Florida. One location is located in Orlando and the other location is in Kissimmee. Both locations are within an hour of each other and I selected the Kissimmee location for my evaluation. Kissimmee location is at 944 East Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, FL 34744. They are open 10am-2pm all days Mon-Sat, except Wed when they are open late from 10am-5pm.

Programs and services: They offer many health and social pregnancy-related services, including pregnancy tests, limited nondiagnostic ultrasounds, crisis intervention and education to women facing unexpected pregnancy. They also offer additional services such as parenting and adoption options and community resource referrals.

Eligibility requirements, fees: JMJ Pregnancy Center is a non-profit community organization that provides pregnancy services to any woman who is in need of support during and after an unexpected pregnancy, regardless of age, marital status, religion or race. There are no eligibility requirements or fees for one to receive their services, other than needing assistance through or after an unexpected pregnancy.

Public relations and marketing: JMJ Pregnancy Center manages their public relations and marketing through local churches, community outreaches, Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, as well as Yelp. Their website offers a link to donate any monetary amount anytime. Additionally, they have a volunteer program that allows one to contribute their time by being a direct sponsor for someone in need through their Gift a Lift program. They also have several other programs such as their Baby Bottle Drive that is a partnership with churches. It is a unique project that involves giving empty baby bottles to churches that the members then fill with spare change. It lasts 4-6 weeks and allows the community to contribute. This year, due to COVID-19, they are also offering an option to do a virtual baby bottle drive through an app called Roundup. It automatically rounds up all the transactions up to a certain maximum that you can set to donate. They are also accepting material donations (baby items). Not only this, they also have a yearly Gala where interested donors can host tables or purchase tickets to support their cause.

Relationships to other agencies within the community: JMJ Pregnancy Center has strong relationship with local churches and health care services. They have projects in collaboration with churches and community such as Baby Bottle Drive and annual Gala. They also provide new and expectant mothers with community resources to any services they are not equipped to provide, such as referrals for child-care, substance abuse, complex medical services and other social services.

Projected needs of the agency: Currently, they are fully open and are accepting volunteers for some of their services. They are always in need of financial support as they are a non-profit organization. JMJ Pregnancy Center currently has a goal of raising $90,000 through their Baby Bottle Drive program. Additionally, they have listed some material donations as their high-need items, including diapers, children’s clothing, baby food, baby wipes, baby formula, car seats, highchairs, bassinets, walkers, maternity clothes, etc.

Utilization of services by people in the community: Most of the people in the community who use services at JMJ Pregnancy Center include women who are in financial and social services need in addition to pregnancy services. They can receive free, confidential services, prenatally and postnatally. JMJ Pregnancy Center has strong community and online presence to help ensure they are accessible to those in need.

Why JMJ Pregnancy Center? Because they can best meet client’s needs in the scenario. They provide all services free and confidentially, regardless of age. The client can receive free pregnancy test (even on walk-in basis) and undiagnostic ultrasound. Additionally, they can also provide counseling and social services to clients as needed. If they are not able to address any of the client’s needs, they will provide community resources and refer to appropriate providers. They are able to support the client through all their options and allow the client to make their own decision. They can also link the client to a volunteer who might have been through the same situation through their Gift a Lift program.

Role(s) of nurses within the agency: Nurses play an important role by providing support to patients throughout their visit. Nurses can do the initial assessments, administer medications and educate the patients.

JMJ Pregnancy Center could be better utilized by the population of focus for all the postnatal services they offer in addition to the prenatal services. They are mainly known in the community for their prenatal services offering support to women who find them in challenging unexpected situations. Their marketing also mainly advertises their prenatal services such as pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, crisis intervention and education. However, after a little bit of additional research, it was found that they offer significant resources such as food, clothing, and anything that might be needed for the baby as well. More can be done to advertise these resources to needy women and families.

Resources

JMJ Pregnancy Center. (n.d.). Pregnant?
