         <title>Suhtepõhise noorsootöö ja noorsootöötajate temperamendi põhituum (artikkel, uurimusest Hong Kongis, sotsiaaltöö ja noorsootöötajate kontekstis, 2022)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>https://doi-org.ezproxy.tlu.ee/10.1080/0145935X.2022.2148646<br>Youth work is among the few social work settings that some of the service users can be related to social workers on a voluntarily basis. It provides a desirable platform for practitioners in expressing genuine concerns to service users and exercising a person-centred and non-judgmental attitude. Such a favorable practice environment helps affirms a person’s individuality by appreciating and recognizing their own unique qualities. Participants of this study provided valuable insights on how social workers could work well with the service users. To young people, youth workers were usually their friends, mentors, and role models, but sometimes as strict as authoritative figures and parents or as intimate as siblings and dates. The role was not static. Experienced youth workers paid a lot of attention to these roles, and they were aware of the power dynamics with</div><div>young people. However, they were not “ performing ” these roles as actors. It demanded the use of their selves in serving these roles. For most of the time, they were merely</div><div>&nbsp;“ performing who they really are.” Young people were sensitive to these roles as well. The conventional understanding of worker-client relationship that social worker as a professional and client as a beneficiary cannot adequately describe their affiliations. To conclude, as noted by a participant (SW2), “I really care about them. It is&nbsp; important to be earnest."</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Professionaalse noorsootöö professionaalsus ja väärtuste roll (teadusartikkel, 2017)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The question: What is characteristic for professional youth work’s own professionalism? will be&nbsp; answered&nbsp; through&nbsp; the&nbsp; development&nbsp; of&nbsp; a&nbsp; framework&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; specific&nbsp; professionalism&nbsp; of professional&nbsp; youth&nbsp; work. Therefore&nbsp; I&nbsp; use&nbsp; the&nbsp; sociology&nbsp; of&nbsp; professions&nbsp; and&nbsp; relate&nbsp; it&nbsp; to&nbsp; the development of professional youth work in Northwest European welfare states. The sociology of professions gives insight in the phenomenon of labour division and the role that professions play&nbsp; in&nbsp; modern,&nbsp; western&nbsp; societies. A&nbsp; concise&nbsp; discussion&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; development&nbsp; of&nbsp; professional youth&nbsp; work&nbsp; provides&nbsp; ingredients&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; model&nbsp; of&nbsp; professional&nbsp; youth&nbsp; work’s&nbsp; own professionalism and the identification of the specific youth work values. In the conclusion I will reflect&nbsp; on&nbsp; the&nbsp; strengths&nbsp; and&nbsp; weakness&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; framework&nbsp; as&nbsp; well&nbsp; as&nbsp; the&nbsp; implications&nbsp; of&nbsp; the</div><div>framework for the debate about the future of a separate professional youth work.</div><div><br></div><div>Are the doubts about the professionalism of professional youth work practice countered? The framework makes visible that professional youth work is a comprehensive profession that sets high&nbsp; demands&nbsp; on&nbsp; individua l&nbsp; youth&nbsp; workers&nbsp; and&nbsp; hardly&nbsp; can&nbsp; be&nbsp; met&nbsp; by&nbsp; volunteers&nbsp; solely.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Positiivsed suhted tegevustes/teenustes osalevate noorte ja neid korraldavate spetsialistide vahel mõjutavad teenuste tulemuslikkust ja mõjusust. Head suhted annavad kindlustunde ja võimaldavad noorel tunda end aktsepteerituna suurendades seeläbi kaasatust tegevustes. Spetsialistide meisterlikkus oma töös on selle aluseks. Noorte vajadusi märgata oskavad töötajad, kes pühendavad noortele piisavalt aega ning suhtuvad noore minapilti, väärtustesse, teadmistesse, oskustesse, kogemustesse jm lugupidamisega, saavad innustada noort inimest oma väljakutsetega tegelema ja võimendavad seeläbi tema enesejuhtimist, toetavad noorte agentsust. Järjekindlad positiivsed kogemused mõjuvad noorele seejuures ulatuslikumalt konkreetsest tegevusest/teenusest ulatudes teistesse valdkondadesse ja tasemetele. Spetsialistide professionaalsus väljendub ka noorte privaatsuse ja konfidentsiaalsuse austamises ning tagamises tööprotsessides.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div><div><br>noorest lähtumise kui printsiibi elementaarsusega kaasaegses noortevaldkonna käsitluses Eestis – põhimõte on retoorikas väga arusaadav ja tuntud, kuid kohati ei pöörata selle tegelikus töös rakendamisele piisavalt tähelepanu.</div><div><br></div><div>Täiskasvanutel tuleks siin noori usaldada. Kui noor ei leia oma potentsiaali, siis varitseb oht, et teda võidakse ära kasutada, näiteks radikaliseerida. Noorsootöötajal on selle koha pealt vastutus, tema on noore suunaja ja peab märkama, et noor saaks abi ja temaga tegeleks keegi. Viidati ka aja(st ka raha)ressursile, mis määrab paljuski ära selle, kui palju noorega töötav inimene saab kasutada oma aega noore tugevuste avastamiseks, tema arenguvajaduste teadvustamiseks jm individuaalseks tööks noorega.&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Noorsootöötaja professionaalse identideedi kujunemine ja areng, Janne Loo (Magistritöö,2022) </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Siinkohal tõid enamik intervjueeritavaid välja, et ilma erialaste teadmiste ja oskusteta peetakse noorsootööd niisama aja veetmiseks ning sedalaadi noorsootöö tegemine ja sellest rääkimine tekitab ka ühiskonnas arusaama, et tegemist on lihtsalt mängimisega, mis aga kahjustab nii valdkonna kui ka selle töötajaskonna väärtustatust. Kaks intervjueeritavat tõid veel välja, et noorte käekäik sõltub väga tugevasti sellest, kui teadlikult noorsootöötajad end arendavad. Noorsootöö peab olema nende sõnul mõtestatud, kasulik ning tulevikuoskusi arendav ja rakendav ning ebakompetentne noorsootöötaja võib enese teadmata noortele hoopiski kahju teha. Seetõttu ongi oluline andmetele tuginemine ja teaduspõhisus noorsootöös.(Loo, 2022)<br>Noorsootöötaja kõige suuremaks ülesandeks on mentorirolli täitmine kuulates, toetades ja suunates (Eesti Avatud Noortekeskuste Ühendus, 2018).</div><div>Sealhulgas on enese määratlemise käigus oluline ka teadlikkus võimalikest praktikatest ja valikute variatiivsusest (Sarv, 2013a). Kuna rolliidentiteeti luuakse suurel määral teiste inimeste reaktsiooni põhjal, mille üle reflekteerides omandavad teod, sõnad ja olukorrad tähendusi, kaasnevad sellega ka tähendused ja ootused iseendale (Mead, 1934; Burke, Reitzes 1981; Solomon, Surprenant, Czepiel, Gutman, 1985). Kusjuures arvestama peab, et ootused rollidele on multidimensionaalsed, püüdes saavutada normide ja vajaduste vahel kooskõla, võttes arvesse väärtusi, ettekujutusi, aega, kohta ja teisi asjaolusid. Suured lahknevused nende ootuste, vajaduste, praktika, väärtuste ja arusaamade vahel põhjustavad ka suuremat rahulolematust töötajaskonnas (Solomon, Surprenant, Czepiel, Gutman, 1985). Sealjuures on oluline märkida, et mida prominentsem on roll, seda tugevam on seotus identiteediga (McCall &amp; Simmons, 1978), millele tõenäoliselt annab väärtust juurde teiste inimeste austavam ja väärtustavam suhtumine prominentsema rolli täitjasse.</div><div>Kuna aga professionaalse identiteedi kujunemise juures on oluline sotsiaalne staatus, mille annab kuulumine elukutse esindajate hulka (Karm, 2007), siis mängib suurt rolli see kui väärtustatud elukutse ühiskonna poolt on.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Methodical principles and prevention-focused outcomes in professional youth work: A longitudinal analysis <br><br>Comparing the results, patterns can be recognized, showing which methodical principles within a multimethodic approach correspond with which type of prevention-focused outcomes. First, the methodical principles of a meaningful relationship, engagement with the lifeworld, and adapt- ing to needs were most strongly associated with prosocial skills and to a lesser extent with social networks. The results of these analyses are consistent with the findings of McGregor (2015), p. 71), who suggested that “authentic relationships” and “starting where young people are” at “by taking their forms of cultural expression seriously” were regarded as particular success factors leading to positive outcomes, including improvements in social skills and young people’s social network.<br>Youth work has the potential to reach adolescents who experience risk in one or more social contexts. We can conclude that the set of 12 methodical principles offers youth workers an interesting methodical framework for supporting these youngsters in their per- sonal development and enhancing their social participation. The results of this study have further concretized and substantiated this framework and may provide an explanation for how youth workers may contribute to the development and social participation of youngsters.<br>These findings will be of significance for our further understanding of the effectiveness of professional youth workers and in legitimizing their position in the broader social infrastructure. The finding that nine meth- odical principles do not appear to play a role in the development of self-mastery requires further research investment in youth work settings using more context-specific instru- ments. To realize positive social returns, policy-makers should give special consideration to long-term professional youth work using a multimethodic approach when designing, implementing, and evaluating prevention-focused services to youngsters.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://doi.org/10.1017/S0047279421000143">https://doi.org/10.1017/S0047279421000143</a><br>According to young people’s experiences of youth work in this study, friends, relationships, sociability and the emotional lives of young people are inherent in the success of youth work. This means that explicit policy goals of youth work (such as social inclusion and skills acquisition) must be explicitly premised on the ability of young people to make, foster and sustain friendships as well as wider relationships in youth work settings. The lack of acknowledgement of this important aspect of youth work is therefore a cause for concern.&nbsp;<br>This tension between youth-centric practices and policy priorities is important, because not only can it not be neatly resolved, but it also represents a fundamental tension at the heart of youth work practice.&nbsp;<br>Firstly, there is insufficient acknowledgement of friendship and the emotional life of young people in the framing of youth work in European policy discourse. Secondly there are tensions both between the top-down policy priorities and the youth-centric principles of youth work, as well as within the tensions generated by the diversity of young people. Finally, it is only with an explicit commitment to experiential learning that youth work can embrace the lived experiences of young people as the locus for learning.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Conclusion It is reassuring that the experiences of the 844 young people who provided stories of the positive impact of youth work broadly cohere with the European youth work policy goals. However, this study also reveals that the enactment of these policy goals is not entirely unproblematic: Firstly, there is insufficient acknowledgement of friendship and the emotional life of young people in the framing of youth work in European policy discourse. Secondly there are tensions both between the top-down policy priorities and the youth-centric principles of youth work, as well as within the tensions generated by the diversity of young people. Finally, it is only with an explicit commitment to experiential learning that youth work can embrace the lived experiences of young people as the locus for learning.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
